About Me
I am an 24 year old primary teacher from Kirriemuir, Angus. I have a full, clean driving license and my own car. I also have a full Disclosure Scotland certificate and I would be delighted if I could help you and your family by caring for your children.
As a primary teacher a great deal of my life is spent working with or around people especially children. From a very young age I have always wanted to pursue a career which works closely with children and found that caring for others is something I am very passionate about.
In 2023 I graduated from a 4 year MA education course at Dundee University and have recently completed my probationer year teaching a multi-composite class of P4-7 with children aging from 7-12 at a small rural school. I am currently teaching P4-6 in my second year of teaching.
I grew up on a family farm and therefore I am a big fan of animals and the outdoors. I am therefore be willing to help walk/care for any family pets. I enjoy cooking and baking in my spare time and in sixth year at school I took Practical Hospitality and Health and Food technology. I completed national 5 hospitality with an A grade and completed my higher health and food technology with a C grade. I also have my Elementary food hygiene certificate. I am very capable of cooking all meals and can adapt to the children’s likes/dislikes or dietary needs. My assignment in my Higher Health and Food Technology was to create a meal for a young child with allergies. Through these courses I learnt about dietary needs and allergies therefore I am able to take these into account while looking after your children.
I also enjoy a variety of hobbies including swimming, running, munro bagging and especially football. I support my local teams Forfar Athletic and Dundee United and I often volunteer in Forfar Athletics club shop to help raise funds.
My Experience
I have extensive experience working with many families and regularly babysit children ranging in age from newborns to 12 years old. My responsibilities have included engaging in play, organising arts and crafts, baking, preparing meals, bedtime routines, school and nursery drop-offs and pick-ups, as well as supporting children with reading and homework. I’m also happy to accompany children on days out when requested by parents.
In addition to regular babysitting, I’ve provided overnight care at several weddings, looking after the children of the bride and groom. This has included caring for infants—specifically a 3-month-old for one night, a 5-month-old for two nights, and an 8-month-old for two nights.
My Qualifications
- MA Education degree - GTCS primary teacher (University of Dundee)
- Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate
- 6 hour emergency first aid course
My Availability
As mentioned, I currently work full-time as a primary school teacher, so my availability is mostly during evenings, weekends, and school holidays. From July 2025, I’ll be available during school hours until early September, and then again from December 2025 onwards. I’m also open to overnight stays, depending on my schedule.

We’ve enlisted the help of Abbie for the occasional weekend day since June ‘24. Our 1 & 3 year old boys absolutely love it when she comes to play with them! They keep her busy with indoor & outdoor activities and they both seemed really comfortable with her early on. I love that she is lots of fun but also clear on what is / isn’t ok as they need clear boundaries (eg reminders to have gentle hands with each other) at times. She is really good at helping them resolve any issues and praising them for positive behaviour. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and highly capable babysitter! (Just don’t use her too much as we want her!)

Abbie looked after our little girl on our wedding weekend. Right from the beginning she was great with our daughter, so friendly and caring with her. Abbie was great to have around and we felt so at ease knowing our daughter was in such safe hands.

I have known Abbie for many years and she has looked after my girls since they were very young. She is very kind, honest and lots of fun, and my girls really enjoy spending time with her. Abbie is very capable and will take on other tasks such as making the tea, helping with homework and taking kids to activities. She is very approachable and professional and a lovely person to have around. I feel very confident in leaving my girls with Abbie and I know that she will provide a caring and fun enviroment for them.

Abbie looked after our 5 month old girl for a full weekend when we got married! She was great with our daughter, kept things clean and tidy as she went and was a lovely person to have around!

Abbie has worked for our family for over a year. We all are very fond of her- my 2 boys (5&6) can sometimes be a handful but Abbie has the skills, patience and experience to navigate any circumstances.
She is very kind and confident- she often plays outdoors with the children and is full of energy. Amongst other things she would assist my children with homework, go on walks with the dogs, undertake creative projects, cook dinner and do school runs.
She is 100% honest, reliable and trustworthy. Her communication skills are excellent and she is adaptable and intelligent.

Abbie has looked after my two kids (aged 8 & 9) many times.
She is friendly, polite, trustworthy, reliable and caring.
She has her own car which is great, she can pick them up from clubs and bring them back home.
She does lots of fun activities with them and makes sure they play outside for some fresh air too!
I really can’t rate Abbie highly enough.
