My Summary
About Me
Hi, I’m Emma. I’m a warm, reliable, and neurodiverse nanny with over 10 years’ experience caring for children of all ages and abilities. I bring a gentle, understanding approach to my work - helping children feel safe, seen, and celebrated for who they are.
Alongside my hands-on childcare experience, I have run my own successful recruitment company within the industry, for the past 2 years. This experience has brought me an invaluable understanding of how important it is for families to feel confident and secure when bringing someone into their home. I value discretion, professionalism, and trust above all - and I bring those values into every role I take on. While I have thoroughly enjoyed running my own business for these past two years, supporting families and Nannie’s within the industry, I am now keen to get back into the industry in a hands-on way, supporting a family through my passion for providing excellent childcare.
I hold a Law degree, Paediatric First Aid, and years of experience supporting children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, as well as complex medical and developmental needs. Being neurodiverse myself gives me a unique perspective - and I like to think it brings a few superpowers too, like creativity, empathy, and the ability to adapt quickly. I’m now looking for a part-time nanny role where I can make a difference, support a lovely family, a continue doing the work I care deeply about.
Outside of work, I love pursuing my creativity, enjoying various craft projects including sewing, knitting and DIY home decor, as well as photography. I live with my partner just outside of Didcot, with our goldendoodle, Lilah. We like to spend time exploring new places with her, as well as travelling abroad when we can, exploring new cultures and environments. I grew up with horses (I have since discovered I have an allergy to horses so with a heavy heart had to give this up!), so I have always been super outdoorsy, and now enjoy skiing each year, particularly with a charity called Ski Across, who take disabled young people sit skiing in Austria.
My Experience
I’ve been working with children in one way or another since I was 13 - starting with babysitting, then gaining experience in residential and private SEN settings, as well as through volunteering with charities that support disabled and neurodiverse young people. Over the years, I’ve cared for children from 6 months to 16 years, and I’ve supported families with a wide range of needs, including complex physical and cognitive disabilities.
What matters most to me is helping children build confidence in who they are. I love encouraging independence, finding out what makes each child tick, and gently supporting them to grow in the areas they feel passionate about - whether that’s creativity, learning, play, or something completely unique to them.
My recent business experience has given me a solid understanding of what makes a great family-nanny match, and how important it is to build relationships based on trust, safety, and shared values. I’ve also worked as a Private Nanny and Family PA for a number of families, including high-net-worth individuals, including travelling abroad with families. I am currently seeking a part time position, preferably 3/4 days a week, with a family who shares my values of kindness, calm, and helping children thrive.
