Nanny / Mother's Help / Tutor with 10 years of (multicultural) international childcare experience, available in the London area for in-home, evening / weekend sole-charge and / or behavioural intervention advice/services.
I've travelled a lot. I love learning from those around me and sharing the knowledge and skills I have accrued with them. I enjoy kickboxing, salsa dancing, and singing. I play the guitar and I love to encourage and support the children I work with in their interests and creative / academic pursuits. I'm currently studying a degree at the School of Education, Communication & Society at King's College London. I have a wealth of knowledge with a variety of teaching and development pedagogies and take pride in my child-centred approach which offers children and young people the boundaries they need to thrive, whilst maintaining a fun and playful demeanour.
My Experience
- DISCOVERY SUMMER: As part of the senior team at summer school for international students aged 8-13, I was responsible for the Welfare and pastoral care of over 100 students at any one time as well as 20 x members of staff. Responsibilities included behavioural interventions, liaison with agencies / parents / staff and third-party service providers, and general oversight for the delivery of the course.
- NCS UK: As a Youth Team leader and Wave Manager, I led 4 x teams of young adults aged 15-17 to develop a community project and develop their civic, social and political skills and understanding.
- As a private Nanny, I was responsible for the sole-charge of up to 4 x children between the ages of 6 months and 16 years old,
- I have been both a live-in (wraparound care when parents were out of the country for up to 4 x days at a time) and live-out Nanny and was responsible for home-education of 3 x children during the pandemic,
- Tutoring / subject specific support (English) and basic music practice (Guitar / Piano),
- I've worked with 10 x families from a variety of cultural backgrounds, in a number of countries. All are willing to provide references :)
- Basic Makaton Skills (Children's Sign Language),
- Experience caring for children with SEN, particularly Autism,
- Confident navigating transport with children including city driving, cycling on roads (if children are confident) and on public transport.
- I've also worked with 2 x families in more of a mother's help / household organisation role
My methods of childcare are very similar to those practiced in Montessori schools in that I believe that every child should be treated as an individual, their skills and passions should be recognised and a flexible approach used in order to best support their development.
