My Summary
About Me
I am a close protection officer that has spent many of my working years working with children. Most of my work is on an adhoc basis. I am therefore available at short notice during the periods I’m not contracted.
My Experience
I began my working life as a nursery nurse, working in a busy nursery I quickly gained the relevant childcare qualifications and was promoted to room leader. This job provided me with the experience of responsibility, looking after other people’s young children ensuring they were cared for and could play and learn in a safe and stimulating environment. I was also in charge of a number of staff, overseeing the completion of duties as well as staff training and general management. As room leader I was responsible for safeguarding, that includes being the designated officer and also staff training to keep the team up to date with new legislation and procedures. I was proficient at communicating with stakeholders ranging from general managers through to handing over information to parents.
I then decided to have a career change, I applied and was accepted to train to become a police officer. I was a quick learner and passed out of training school for the Metropolitan Police Service and was posted to the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham as a response officer. This role gave me a wide range of experiences. I was frequently placed in situations that required good communication skills, the ability to work under pressure and dynamically assess potential risks. One of my strengths in this role was the ability to talk to both victims and suspects, giving them both a sense of security and fairness.
My skills in communication lead me to be lead officer in a number of high profile cases where I worked with victims to gather information. These victims were in a state of shock and fear but I was able to provide the right kind of support and compassion so that they felt able to re-live their experience. I also have the ability to work under pressure and can make the right decisions quickly to de-escalate situations or to save lives. I have also worked undercover as part of covert operations to arrest criminal gangs working in West London.
An opportunity arose within the service to combine policing with my childcare experience. I took a post working as youth offending officer. This role encapsulated my abilities for communication. I was able to work with young people building up their confidence in the police service and working with them to reduce their criminal activity. This role was challenging as often it put me in opposition with the usual philosophy of the police force. One of the main roles of this job was to work closely with the young person and support them when they came in to contact with local police. My work resulted in a significant number of young people reducing heir offending rates and ultimately avoiding prison as they changed their lifestyle and need to offend.
I then consolidated this work by taking up a role as a school liaison officer in the local pupil referral unit. I took this job as I wanted to work with young people at risk of offending to prevent them from from entering the criminal justice system. The job was very challenging because in a daily basis I had to breakdown the stereotypes young people had of the police service and officers. I worked hard to gain their trust and to provide them with positive experiences of the police. During my time there I worked one to one with some of the higher risk learners, run education groups teaching young people about the law and criminality and lead sessions for staff to help them to understand criminal behaviour. I also set up clubs and training sessions for the students with some of the local FA clubs in west London. I arranged training sessions, coaching, mentoring and the participation in tournaments. These activities were exceptionally popular with the students and their attendance and commitment was high. During this role I developed a thorough understanding of a variety of different learning difficulties including SEBD, Autism, mental health and moderate learning difficulties. I developed a wide range of techniques to support learners within the classroom developing their ability to engage with learning. I was also responsible for positive behaviour support, identifying potential challenges and implementing de escalation strategies to avoid conflict. I also played a lead role in supporting restorative justice sessions and developing students emotional resilience.
After fourteen years as a serving police officer I decided to change my career so that I could be more flexible with my working hours. I retrained as a Close Protection Officer. On completing this course I have worked with a range of clients and undertaken a variety of different roles. I’ve protected celebrities, Middle Eastern royalty and high net worth individuals. I have worked with families providing protection for young children when visiting places of interest and during leisure activities. I have provided covert security for corporate companies in central London and have also worked large media events where I have been the single point of contact. In this role I have shown I can work as part of a team and also can competently work on my own taking sole responsibility for the client. I have also undertaken covert analysis tasks where my role was to identify potential security hazards and risks at high profile venues. This role enabled me to develop my strategic thinking and analysis as I had to provide detailed reports on how to improve security and reduce risks to the general public and venue staff.
More recently I assisted three local families with home schooling their children, during Covid after revisiting my childcare background. I offered support with many literary and maths. Since the children have been returned to school I have continued to support these families with ad hoc nannying duties, as well as evening babysitting so the families can either work or enjoy an evening out.
I am a fun loving individual who spends their leisure time being a mum to three children, running, keeping fit and watching football. I have previously coached a local youth football team from inception and in their first year they won the Surrey cup. I pride myself on being a hard working and committed individual who takes pleasure in helping people. I demonstrate this by giving up my free time to volunteer at a local women’s refuge where I can use my experience to support and help women to overcome domestic abuse.

I hold a NVQ level 2 and 3 in childcare.

I have 3 children 4,5 and 7 years old and really struggled with lockdown. Especially homeschooling so I decided to get some help. I’m so glad to have found Natalie, who has really helped me through this time. She is lovely, very friendly and has been extremely good with the children. My kids love her, it’s a shame once they go back to school they won’t spend as much time with her. Although I do plan to still use Natalie for babysitting in the evenings in the future.
Natalie has been really flexible, available for the times I’ve needed her but also more or less time on some days depending on what I’ve needed. She spends some time with each of my children individually and adapts learning suited to their needs. She has even bought her own resources to help, which has been brilliant.
I’ve recommended her to another of my friends who has also been very happy with her.
Natalie has been trustworthy and reliable. She is so good with children. I don’t have a bad word to say about her and would definitely recommend!!
