About Me

My name is Charlie and I run Phoenix Treasures Childcare from my home. I’m a proud mum of 3 children including a 6 year old and twin 3 year olds. I live in a bungalow in Sompting, North of the A27 and we are lucky to have a large playroom with endless resources and a back garden set for adventures. I have significant childcare experience in both work and life. I provide a home from home for children in early years and beyond.

I was a social worker for 10 years and I have significant experience in youth service, mental health and working with children and families.

As a Childminder I have enjoyed inviting young explorers into my home and seeing their curiosity and watching their confidence and skills grow. Our home is known as the fun house due to our extensive resources, our child centred approach and our focus on fun and play. We are known for the house made for children and that is how we like it. Our home is a place where children’s needs are accommodated, we respect their autonomy and independence and encourage them to have boundaries and express themselves in a safe and supportive way.

We have good links to the local community, attending local events, the library and children’s centre as well as some of our fantastic local activities such as Tiny Tots, Wot A Mess and Muddy Mess. We also enjoy working alongside other high quality Childminders from our local Childminding Network and exploring our local area including outings to the beach, farm and zoo.

The children that have attended our setting have especially enjoyed the kitchen and icecream cafe experiences, the dressing up and role play, they have loved the music box, the sensory toys and the arts, crafts and messy play. The children love exploring the secret garden and hidden treehouse and swing amongst the trees, they’ve enjoyed digging and running, building and balancing and developing their problem solving skills. We have danced, sung, played and made friends all whilst developing self confidence, resilience and self regulation.

We are Ofsted rated Good. We follow the EYFS and best practice and we strive to provide the best possible experience for children whilst they are in our care.

Although we strive to be an inclusive setting unfortunately due to our settings physical location and layout we only have steps and support rail access both externally and internally and we do not currently have alternative access options.
