My Experience

June 2021-Present Maternity leave

London, UK January 2021-May 2021

I was entrusted with the development and wellbeing of two children a (10 months and 4 ½ years old at the start) as a live-out nanny. It was a wonderful experience being able to support, look after, stimulate and challenge the kids and I felt personal pride in their achievements. Some of my responsibilities were:

• Establishing daily routine
• Introducing new games and tasks to encourage logical thinking and enriching their childhood.
• We also engaged in story-telling, songs and rhymes, music and outdoor activities.
• Taking the child to school and bringing them back
• Occasionally taking them to the doctors, to the library, to the park, to music class etc.
• Cooking meals, snacks and refreshments for the children.
• Managing feeding, changing and naps for the infant.
• Administered medicine as needed for pain, allergies, or fever.
• Performing light housekeeping, including laundry, vacuuming, ect.
• Tidying up the children’s room.
• Helping the children complete their homework assignments, support learning and online classes (due to Covid)

As a nursery practitioner at Little Wombles Nursery I am working with children aged 6 months to 24 months and also children aged 24 months to 60 months.

• Providing enabling, friendly and safe environment to the children
• Establishing daily routine in the nursery
• Supporting new children emotionally when settling in the nursery
• Keeping the children’s folders and paperwork up to date through observations, next step achievements, summative supervisions
• Planning indoor and outdoor activities according to the children age and stage of development
• Providing support for their emotional, social and physical welfare
• Helping children develop numerical skills through activities like counting games
• Reading stories and providing other activities to develop language skills

As a nursery assistant at Magic Roundabout Nursery in Stockwell I was supporting a group of children aged 21 to 36 months (toddler) and 40 to 50 months (pre-school).
• Planning activities for the children in accordance to EYFS curriculum(Indoor and Outdoor weekly plans)
• Indoor and outdoor supervision children at all times
• Taking responsibility for the children’s wellbeing.
• Supporting the children with basic reading and calculations learning appropriate to their age.
• Reporting any concerns to the management team
• Maintain a positive attitude at all times with children, parents, colleagues and visitors
• Providing daily feedback to parents at drop off and pick up
• Participate in all staff meetings and trainings

I was responsible for two children (a new born and 3 years old at the start) as a live-in nanny. Some of my responsibilities were:

• Comforting and supporting a child when they are sick or upset, paying particular attention to their emotional wellbeing and maturing.

At the “play and learn” children centre designed for young children (primary school age) as an alternative to spending the afternoon at school I was responsible for:
• Delivering short, fun, interactive and engaging role play activities with children.
• Igniting children’s imaginations by helping them get into character.
• Organising mini competitions for best reader, best young mathematician, etc. with nominal awards for the children.
• Identifying the difficult learning areas for each child and tailoring my support accordingly.
• Building rapport quickly with new children.

As a private Math teacher I was supporting primary school students with weekly lessons. I had 4 private students I was helping – one in the second grade and three in the fourth grade on a 2 hours per week basis.
