About Me
With 16 years experience as a primary school teacher and 3 years experience in face-to-face tutoring, I have both extensive experience and knowledge in supporting children aged 4-11 years in both Maths and English, as well as other areas of the curriculum. My aim is to target much of the learning through the interests of your child so that the sessions are both engaging and motivating. Initial assessment sessions will aim to find out where your child is at, discuss parent/carers main aims for their child's learning and then provide sessions that continually track and adapt to this learning journey. This can be formal, in line with the national curriculum, or take a more informal and individualised approach.
With a friendly, patient and approachable manner, I aim for children to grow in confidence, ability and ultimately, for them to feel proud of every step of progress they make! My approach is to be supportive, positive and make every child feel they can, and will achieve. Many children I have supported and taught over the years often face barriers to learning through anxiety. My aim is to reduce any anxiety or confidence issues they may have and come away from sessions with a sense of pride and achievement.
My Experience
With 19 years of educational experience through the combination of both teaching in school and private tutoring , I have a in-depth understanding of a wide range of teaching and learning styles.
During my teaching career, I trained and worked for 3 years in early reading intervention so have plenty of fun and engaging strategies to support pre-school children receive a head start in learning to read, as well as being able to support any aged child to progress further in their reading. I also received extra training in Speech and Language Development which is also a great asset when working with young children. My experience has also included teaching children with a wide range of special educational needs.
I am dedicated to structuring tutoring sessions that are engaging, relevant and contain individualised, next steps for your child. I can focus on Reading and Writing skills, Phonics, Maths, but can also support homework activities if preferred. My tutoring sessions can also be geared to preparing for Year 6 SATs exams.
I am also available to support children who are home-schooled as have availability during the day.

PGCE Goldsmiths College. (Teaching qualification)
BA Honours Degree
My Availability
I run after school sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. However, these are currently booked up. I have availability on Mondays, Thursdays and Friday mornings for children who may be home schooled and are seeking some tutor input, or who are, perhaps, waiting a school place. I am also available some Saturday mornings where I will be running small group SATs workshops over the coming months. Please contact me for further information on the dates available.
