I'm Joe, and I've spent the last 17 years supporting families with childcare, ranging from babysitting to teaching. My approach centers around easing children through challenging situations, particularly those involving anxiety, using distraction and refocusing techniques. Alongside childcare, I’ve worked as a fitness coach in various gyms across the UK, including roles as a CrossFit coach and personal trainer. I’m a big believer in keeping kids active and outdoors, and previously ran a children’s after school sport club with an old employer and her son that focused on building confidence as much as physical ability. I always aim to keep children motivated while making sure parents feel informed and reassured.
I’ve also worked closely with children who have additional needs, including using Makaton, administering medication, and providing tailored support in a calm, nurturing way. While this work can be challenging, it’s been one of the most rewarding parts of my career and has really highlighted the importance of working closely with families.
Earlier in my career, I worked in nursery settings, progressing from nursery nurse to room leader and managing groups of 25+ children. I also have a background in hotel entertainment, kids’ clubs, and holiday parks, where I led activities, sports, games, and events for children of all ages
Currently, I work supporting three brothers Our afternoons often involve school pick-ups and outdoor adventures like cycling, exploring woodlands, climbing trees, or visiting restaurants. I also support them with homework when needed. I sometimes bring along Finley, my golden retriever, who the boys absolutely adore. He adds a lovely, calming presence, which, as you can imagine, always goes down like a storm!

Joe has been the most amazing introduction to our family, and it is no exaggeration to say his influence has been truly transformative! His patient, upbeat, energetic and fun nature are infectious and have had such a positive impact on our whole family. The boys have flourished under his care and direction. As parents, we have also learned from Joe - he knows how to build genuine rapport with the children (they are genuinely excited to see and look forward to their time together), promote confidence, while also holding healthy boundaries and encouraging discipline/respect needed to bring out the best in them. Our boys have met their match… Joe’s energy levels and positivity enable them to go out and have the most exciting adventures - from fun bike rides, to playing with their favourite furry friend (Finley, Joe’s dog, is the most wonderful, loyal and enthusiastic companion to our boys!). This is well balanced with meeting their goals such as successfully completing homework and daily chores etc. Joe makes this balance seem effortless! Whenever the children are in Joe’s care, we know that they are well taken care of and we have absolute peace of mind. Joe’s depth of experience in childcare is clear from the offset, nothing seems to phase him and he takes everything within his stride, this has such a great impact on us all and installs such a feeling of confidence. The boys are flourishing under his care. “Coach Joe” (as the boys affectionately refer to him) is a massive hit with our family and we genuinely could not think of a better person for the job … and beyond that, he has become a family friend - we can’t believe our luck that our paths have crossed!.

Coach Joe is fantastic! He has worked wonders with our brilliant and often challenging 6 year old, and has been able to help him to stay regulated and happy. He is always full of positive energy, and fills my son's time with fun activities that he loves. He is also great at ensuring that homework gets done, and good boundaries are held. My son loves spending time with him. I highly recommend Coach Joe for your family.

Jo has been the most brilliant addition to our family. Consistently positive, energetic, and full of creativity for playtime and thoughtful discipline for homework. He even created an after school club for my son and his friends where they all went to the park and learned ball skills and played football. Jo is one of a kind and we could not recommend him more highly!
