My Summary

My Experience

In my year out before university I gained some invaluable experience working with children.
Straight after qualifying at level 3 in childcare and early years education, I worked full-time in the 0-2yrs old room in a private nursery. I became a senior member of that team, taking on responsibilities such as key children assessments and reports, room leading and supporting other team members.
Shortly after that job post I obtained a full-time job working as a Healthcare Assistant on my local Neonatal unit. There I looked after special care premature newborns, and their families. I developed my skills both in the clinical sense and the social sense, making sure the babies were looked after appropriately and parents felt confident in a situation they did not expect to be in!
I have now successfully completed 2 years of my Children's Nursing degree and I'm beginning my final year this September (2024). Throughout my placements I work with a variety of ages 0-18 and continue to put into practice what I have already learnt and continue to develop my professional nursing skills on a regular basis.
During my first and second year of university I also worked part time in a children’s nursery, keeping up my child development practice.
In my spare time I have done and love to volunteer with different children’s groups such a Beaver Scouts, Messy Church, Spring Harvest Kids and New Wine Kids! these opportunities have enabled me to develop transferable skills such as effective communication, teamwork and building good rapport with families.

My Qualifications

- I have 10 GCSE ranging from a grade C to A*s. Including Maths, English and Science.
- Level 3 technical diploma in Childcare and Early Years Education (grade A) and Level 3 Btec diploma in Applied Science (grade Distinction*) - both equivalent to 4 A-levels.
- Level 3 safeguarding, Level 3 paediatric First Aid, Basic life support adult and children.
- As practicing as a student nurse, I carry out ongoing mandatory training yearly such as fire safety, information governance, domestic abuse awareness and PREVENT training.
- I have an in date DBS check with my local church and the University, and I’m registered with the DBS update service.

My Availability

From time to time on this course I do hospital block placements, which do sometimes include irregular shift patterns. My next placement block is 9-5 Mon to Friday (till 08/11/24).
When I'm at university I have Wednesdays and Fridays off.
I will also be available for a some weekend work too.
