I am a BA Hons trained and current practising artist exhibiting in Wales and England. You may have seen me on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2016 or Breakfast Television in October this year, the latter when I won a prize painting in a canoe in Norwich! I am also the programme artist for the Pontardawe episdoe of BBC's Street Auction this autumn. In 2018 I won 2nd prize in PaintheHeath, in Hampstead, London.
I love working with children, sensitively guiding with appropriate input to enhance skills, looking, thinking independently and knowledge.
In groups I lead egg tempera painting workshops with all ages! This is good fun as we make our own paint from natural materials including seaweed! I will travel for these special events. They tend to be organised in advance and take place in Museums and Art Galleries. Your child may have attended one in Swansea Museum or the Egypt Centre or Norfolk.)
Accustomed to working with beginners upwards from 6 as tutees, there no upper age limit. We study light, texture, form, materials, colour and explore paint making in more depth. It is more about the looking and expression, teaching basic essentials for success and using various media as a vehicle, than only using one particular medium.
All ages are welcome, classes are individual, pair and small groups and are offered in my studio or at your choice of venue. We also sometimes draw/paint at other locations.
French tutor to children and adults..
If you are looking for your children/for yourself to have an above average to excellent French accent and develop listening skills as well as a rich vocabulary and confidence with the language look no further. For your child/children I use french story books and live french speech and song. I have completed study in French, Spanish (and Brazilian Portugese - minor), to university level 2 and benefitted from a french grandmother, I have also lived in France for several periods. We begin orally but depending on the age and level will refer to key words and grammar. Days of the week, times, months, seasons, greetings, about my town all feature as do focussing on intonation, elision and features of spoken french not mentioned at school. Confidence, familiarity and how to self-help are major aspects.
*Art through the medium of French or Spanish £25 per hour.* Unique course
Ideal for developing fluency at AS/A level and for people planning to move to France. A lot of fun at any level if you are prepared to through yourself in at the deep end. Your choice of project. Best fun of all if you are already an art lover wanting to improve French or Spanish.
English and English ESOL with Maths - tutor.
Patient support for your child to encourage a love of story and rhyme. This develops confidence across the curriculum, improves concentation and listening skills. Experienced with non-native beginners, english mother tongue all abilities and special needs children.
Poetry tutor.
Learn more about poetry, have fun developing your own style. Input can include the history of poetry, different styles and poets. Also the various paths to publication and how to become involved locally can be included.
Proofreading offered. I have previous experience of proofreading for ORS, Swansea and copy-editing and proofreading a novel and thesis.
French/English, Spanish/English translation of academic and literary text.
Songwriting tutor.
It is preferable for you to bring the instrument you usually write with, piano provided. The aim is to help guide the student to find their own workable approach, whether to compose at least some of the lyrics simultaneously with the music or to work separately, use rhythm, word games, etc.
It is a question of regular practise, I have songwritten since I was 18 and receive PRS royalties.

Sue has been successfully tutoring my daughter since about October 2018. She helps her with reading and writing skills, and improving her attention span. She has even provided her with painting classes as a reward! Sue has infinite patience and has built up a lovely rapport with my daughter, who has always been a very reluctant reader. Since the end of March, with the country going into lockdown, Sue switched to providing her lessons online via Skype. This was an unexpected experiment for us and I would say that it has been very successful. Sue has been very thoughtful and inventive in finding ways of sharing texts, images and videos to keep my daughter engaged. In fact since lockdown my daughters reading and writing skills have come on leaps and bounds, and I’m sure this is in large part down to Sue’s continued patience and perseverance with her, and making sure that despite the current situation her classes have continued. I would very much recommend Sue as a tutor online or face to face!
I have been known Sue Since January 2018. She has been looking after my twins at the weekend. She has been brilliant with them doing different activities involving, painting, reading, singing, music classes, writing and a bit of drama. My twins will be 5 years old next May. I highly recommend her without a doubt and I wish her the best for the future. She is very keen on families that speak different languages as she is fluent in English, French and Spanish. She also can speak German to a practical level and she is a beginner in Russian, Brazilian/Portuguese.
She is also an artist and is doing regular workshops and exhibitions across the country.

Thank you for your glowing review, I look forward to our creative and industrious session every week.
Sue was taking care of my son (3.5 y.o) and daughter (2 y.o.) several times. She is very warm and nice person. She made a lot of efforts to make the time spent with my children happy. She is an artist and she often brought some toys made by her which my son really liked. I can recommend Sue to any parents with small children.
