My name is Christal Turner. I am 38 years old. I am a friendly, fun and positive person. I live in Sutton-In-Ashfield with my Husband Mark and our two children Olivia (12) and Jack (9).
I have been a childminder for just over two years. Before setting up my own childminding business I worked as a Nursery teacher in local primary schools for 15 years. My setting is called Little Sunshines.
At Little Sunshines every child will have their time to shine. I aim to provide a home from home experience with a twist of Nursery too. The best of both.
We live in a semi-detached house, with a spacious purpose built downstairs playroom and toilet/shower room. Our garden is safe and secure. We will spend time outdoors every day whatever the weather. Using nature and the world around us as our greatest resource.
My secure knowledge of child development and the EYFS will enable me to support and extend your child's learning whilst following their individual interests. I will always follow your child's lead, learning is better when it starts from the child.

My Experience
Since being a young child myself I have always been passionate about caring for and educating young children. I trained as a teacher gaining my degree and Qualified Teacher Status in 2006. I began my teaching career starting as a Nursery teacher at Mapplewells Primary School in 2006, leaving in 2010. I worked in Hucknall at Beardall Street Primary School for a short period before starting at Dalestorth Primary School where I was the Nursery teacher for just over 10 years. I have two children myself aged 10 and 7.
My Qualifications
With 15 years’ experience of working within a school Nursery setting I have been very lucky to have completed a huge amount of training and gain additional qualifications. Throughout my teaching career I have chosen to
specialise and further my expertise in supporting children’s speech and language development. Joining in with the Every Child a Talker project in 2008 sparked my interest in this area. I have worked with many children with speech, language and communication need’s, liaising with the Speech and language Therapy Team and parents to provide specialised speech and language support.

I hold a current Paediatric First Aid certificate and I have completed a Level 2 Food and Safety and Hygiene for Catering course.

I am committed to my professional development and will regularly take part in training to update my knowledge and skills.
