My Summary
About Me
Hi, I’m Jess.
I am 24 years old and have worked in childcare for 6 years, and am currently based in a nursery. I love my job and knew from a young age that childcare is where my career was meant to be!
I am a creative person who likes to be imaginative with activities and enjoy using lots of messy play and natural materials to create with. I am passionate about providing activities that allow all senses to be explored. I have experience of caring for children from 3 months to 5 years professionally, but have experience with newborn and older children from previous babysitting jobs.
I am NVQ Level 3 qualified in childcare and hold a full, valid DBS check (copy can be provided). I am paediatric first aid trained and hold a full clean UK divers license and I have my own car. I am covid-19 vaccinated. Recently, I have completed a level 2 certificate in autism and have experience of special educational needs and medical conditions, including allergies and administering medications.
I am a trustworthy, reliable, and punctual individual. I am hardworking and organised, helping to provide children with routine. I take great pride in seeing children achieve new milestones, knowing that I have helped them to achieve it. I will always put my best efforts in to ensure the children in my care are looked after and receive the best opportunities to develop and learn, and in a safe environment. Importantly I make sure that they have fun! I enjoy being outdoors and visiting new and exciting places. I like to provide open spaces for children to run around and explore, encouraging them test their physical abilities and skills. My priority is always the children and meeting their needs first, but I also like to help out where needed to ensure the children’s environment is maintained and kept safe.
Building relationships with children, as well as their parents and families, is very important to me. Having a trusting relationship with parents will help them feel more comfortable and confident in sharing important information or experiences with me. I want the families to be just as comfortable as the children!
I am looking to take a new step in my career as a nanny and hope my years of experience will help with this!
My Experience
I started off in the childcare sector when I was 17. After a few weeks work experience at a local nursery near to my college, it was confirmation to me that this is where my career is meant to be. I then started my job in a nursery setting and began my studies towards my level 3 qualification which I achieved in 2021 (due to a short delay as a result of Covid lockdown). I have gained a lot of valuable experience and many skills that have made me the professional I am today. I have worked with the baby room, toddler room and pre-school room, so have been able to help care for a variety of age groups.
I have also done lots of babysitting for families in my local area who have ranged from newborn to 15 years, as well as part time after school nannying for primary age children. I have experience of working with children with autism and children with medical needs and allergies or dietary requirements. I have a full uk driving license and my own car. I am comfortable with taking the children outside of the home and to places further away in the car, to allow them to explore new environments and seek new play opportunities.
I am currently in my 6th year of working within a nursery setting. I was previously based in a nursery in Hampton Court, which is a forest school. After gaining my level 3 qualification, I decided it was time for a new challenge and moved to a nursery which is much bigger in size and has brought me lots of new opportunities. My time at my current nursery setting has helped me continue to gain confidence, skills and knowledge that make me the best practitioner I can be. I believe childcare to be such a rewarding job, where I am able to support children's development, encourage their learning and ensure their needs are met. I strive to create and provide new and exciting activities everyday to support children's development.
Aside from a nursery setting, I have previously been a part time after school nanny for primary age children. During my time there I was in charge of helping with homework, preparing and cooking simple dinners and caring for the children until their parents returned home.
