My Summary
About Me
I'm an enthusiastic, compassionate, calm speech language therapist assistant/nanny who loves teaching children through play. I specialise in SEN and fostering language development in the early years using sign language and lots of modeling. I have experience with children of all ages, abilities, syndromes and backgrounds.
My Experience
I have many years experience working in SEN programs. My job in the United States was to facilitate and teach language in whatever way that came (spoken English, American Sign Language, communication devices). I had a caseload of 25 wonderful and complex children, working under 7 different Speech Therapists and alongside Occupational and Physical Therapists. During those years, I also worked with typically developing children by supervising after school programs, volunteering, coaching, babysitting and facilitating parent-infant sign programs.
I've always worked with children, but nannying began for me when I took time off to spend 2 years in Paris. I was a full time live-in nanny responsible for three adolescents (10, 13 & 17), learning French through classes and full immersion. Additionally, I spent one of those summers with a Monegasque family as a travelling live-in nanny for twin 8 year old girls and their friends. I quickly adapted to new places every few weeks including Monaco, Saint Tropez, Courchevel and Sardinia.
When I moved to the UK, I cared for 4 different families temporarily, ages 2-7, with families up to three children. The job I connected with the most was caring for a 2.5 year old, teaching English as the child's third language, teaching over 300 words in 2 months through exploring, play groups, free activities in the community and activities at home.
I am currently in Cramond, looking to work part time alongside a job at the Royal Blind School.
My Qualifications
Trained and experienced in SEN, speech language therapy, Deaf studies. Have taken professional development and safety trainings in all aspects of SEN, education and language development in the United States.

Recently trained in child safeguarding, paediatric first aid and child care.
