My Requirements

2 roles to support Autistic teenager :1) play buddy/homehelp
: 2) carer/babysitter required

1)We are seeking a "buddy"/home help for our Autistic son age 13. He is non verbal with sensory processing needs and needs a lot of support with daily functioning but also support to play and have fun. We need a play buddy to come and engage with him for an hour or so after school a couple of evenings a week, (ideally mon tues and/or Wednesday) so that I can cook/ take other kids to clubs etc. This is a support/home help role and apart from taking other children to clubs (10 mins) I will be present all the time, to support you in getting know our son. He loves jigsaw puzzles, matching and sorting, music, and playing in the garden is his absolute favourite, but he needs supervising and support with all these things to help him access them safely. This can be a really rewarding and well supported role for someone willing to bring some enthusiasm and fun to our sons after school time.

2)We also will need a more involved carer/babysitter, for a couple of hours a week after school and potentially a Saturday. So playing and engaging with him as above , but also support him with more intimate care such as toileting and bathing. Initially, you would work alongside me as above, so that he could get used to you and you could get to know what he likes to do etc, but with a view to perhaps, being able to babysit for an hour or so without me here, when the time is right.

The roles can be split between two people or one person can do both roles. Flexible times split between mon, tues, wed after school and potentially some saturdays further down the line.
