About Me
Hi, my name is Paula and I run Shining Stars childminding . I am based in North Chingford. Graded Outstanding on my recent inspection. We are Ofsted registered with Tiney. I am very proud to be a family team with my Husband Wayne who is my fully registered assistant. We have four daughters, and offer a home from home setting where children learn to explore, be curious ,and learn new ways to play encouraging independency. I draw upon various approaches within the setting including the Curiosity approach, Reggio Emilia and Montessori. I provide many varied activities throughout the day supporting each child’s development. I have a lovely garden which the children always have access to which has many resources such as a mud kitchen, bikes and scooters, sand and water trays, I also have a lovely playroom which the children enjoy. We offer a seasonal menu providing healthy organic vegetarian meals catering for all dietary needs. We especially enjoy cooking with the children making fresh bread. we live near lovely parks, woodland areas and nature reserves which we visit regularly. We have family pets which are a great addition and have a very positive impact within the setting. We are a ten minute walk to Chingford Station and bus terminals.
My Experience
I have a wealth of knowledge within Early years and have gained over 28 years experience working with young babies up until 12 years of age. I have trained knowledge in speech and language. I have worked as a room manager in nursery settings for 19 years and have worked as a childminder for 10 years which I thoroughly enjoy. I have gained -

I don't think there is enough that could be said to show off how amazing Paula has been with our son/family. She was very accommodating from the start, flexible with us to meet our needs. Took our sons allergies in her stride and never had any worries. Her care, programme and home set up is one that cannot be faulted. Our son has thrived in her care, learning independent play, through indoor and outdoor play - attending playgroups and activities outside her home. Opened him up to variety of foods he wouldn't eat at home. Always updated via newsletter and her daily app where she logs everything including lovely photos/videos of their day. I couldn't ask for more. It is with great devastation that we had to leave due to relocating - if I could take Paula with us I would as she is going to be hard to replace. She will be very missed by our son and family.

Our son has been going to Paula’s for almost 2y and he has loved it since the beginning. Paula provides lots of opportunities to play, both indoors and outdoors, and has taken the time to get to know our son and his interests, which we really appreciate. It’s great to have feedback throughout the day and her home cooked meals are also a huge plus.

Paula is an absolutely fabulous childminder! She has so much patience and enthusiasm for her job and such a real love of the children she cares for. My daughter loves going to Paula's - she always asks to go even on days she isn't due to be there, so I know how happy she must be. The updates we get are brilliant too - easy to access and lovely to see what she's been up to. I love that they get out and about exploring too and I can relax knowing she is safe and having fun. Cannot recommend enough!

Paula has looked after our daughter Millie since January 2023, and we couldn’t have been happier. Millie settled really quickly with ease, she’s happy to go in, waves goodbye and off she goes ready to explore. Paula offers a range of activities and experiences following the curiosity approach which we really like and get weekly updates with photos from her about what our daughter have been doing.
Paula takes the children to the locals parks, libraries and during winter term had weekly “forest school “ visits.
Paula has 3 dogs, which allowed our Millie to be more confident around animals in general, and thought her to be gentle and calm.
We highly recommend Paula to anyone looking for a caring, warm, imaginative and passionate person to look after their loved ones. :)

Paula looked after my son for roughly 18 months (from around 18 months old). I found her to be a very calm & patient childminder offering a relaxed setting for the children in her care. I personally really liked how much time my son got to spend outside in her courtyard garden playing with the mud kitchen or with activities set out on the tuff tray. My son took to her instantly and has always been so excited to go and spend the day with her. She offers a great mix of activities every week and shares updates and pictures through an app so you can keep up with what your little one is up to. Another big positive for me with Paula is that she has pets (both cats and dogs) as my son really loves animals. Whilst Paula keeps the dogs out of the way of the children in her care they get to see them throughout the day and the cats come and go as they please, much to my son's joy.
Paula herself has a vast amount of experience and is a very reliable pair of hands on that front. But beyond that she has a quiet and soft disposition and seems to almost effortlessly form very strong bonds with the children in her care. We will miss her now that my son is starting at his school's pre-school.
