My Summary
About Me
Hi I'm Nicky, I'm a qualified Nursery nurse, TA and have a BA degree in special educational needs and inclusive practice. I'm hard working, caring, honest, flexible, enthusiastic and loyal. I love working with children and thrive off of helping them to achieve their goals. My specialism is working with children with special needs, but have also got years of working with children of all ages as a nanny and as a TA as I have worked with children all my adult life.
I'm looking for extra work after my main job of working in a school or weekends. I can be flexible and work as a sole charge carer or alongside parents /carers. I don't see working with children as solely a job, but more of a vocation as I have always done it and knew from when I was 10 years old it was what I wanted to do.
My Experience
I have worked with children all my adult life I a variety of ways, including ad hic babysitting,
that involves bathing and putting children to bed.
I have worked as both a live in and out nanny. Working with both neuro typical children and children with additional needs. This has been working with newborn babies, up to teenagers. I have also worked as both a TA and a nursery nurse in a school supporting children on a 1:1 basis and in class. I have run phonics groups, and other small group interventions helping children to achieve their goals in a fun and achievable way.
My ultimate aim is to become a teacher, preferably one working with children with additional needs, and will be starting my final year of training in September 2022.
Over the years I have gained extensive additional experience working with a variety of therapist . During my time as a special needs nanny, l was lucky enough to gain weekly experience working with speech and language physio and occupational therapists. This involved sitting in on the children's weekly therapy sessions, then implementing what they had done in therapy into our weekly routine. I have since used what I had learnt in my job in a school. This has helped immensely with all the children I have worked with as I used that knowledge and experience in my work from helping them achiever their goals or settling them down to go to sleep when babysitting.
Whilst working in a private school, I was a SENDco for a year, so gained extensive experience and knowledge in helping families to fill in forms and even apply for EHCPs (educational, health and care plans).
My Qualifications
NNEB City and guilds in learning support and BA in special educational needs and inclusive practice. I have smaller certificates such as safeguarding, epipen, asthma, phonics and speech and language training.
My Availability
I can work some evenings after school finishes, weekends and some school holidays.
