About Me

I am currently a student neonatal nurse undertaking a course in midwifery and paediatric nursing hoping that when I finish my studies I can get on to my career path of becoming a successful midwife. From the
age 11 and up I
have had a massive desire in becoming a midwife due to growing up in such a huge family which has led me to create a compassionate love for all children whether it be children with disabilities or
learning difficulties.

If I had to describe myself in three words I would say that I am patient, sociable and loving.
I have chosen the word patient as it enables me to analyse things and situations beyond their face value. In the circumstance of working with children, when you demonstrate patience you are also giving the child the message that he or she is valued and validated. I have also chosen the word sociable because as humans social interaction is essential to every aspect of our health. When working with children, I believe it is important to be sociable as it helps and prepares children for a lifetime of healthier interactions in all aspect of life, for example displaying good manners, communicating effectively with others and being considerate of the feelings of others and expressing personal needs which are important components of solid social skills. Lastly, I have
chosen the word loving as love brings people together even in tough times, it is not only relevant but an essential tool to society. Being loving to a child allows them to feel safe and secure emotionally and physically and helps them develop confidence and self-esteem.

I am applying for this vacancy, as I strongly believe that it will guide and help me in gaining more knowledge and experience in the sector of childcare, I highly think that this vacancy is the first step for me in slowly accomplishing my career goals in becoming a midwife and working closely with children. Every day, I make it my priority to read books and revise on the key stages of working in healthcare. I hope to expand my learning by having an opportunity in being the
successful candidate for this vacancy, I do not have any experience in working in a hospital setting , but I have done volunteering at an after school club for children , doing basic tasks such as preparing
their meals, helping them with their homework and spending time with them by doing activities such as running around , playing with toys and reading to them.

I am more than ready for any challenges that come with this vacancy and I'm willing to show my compassion and motivation whilst learning and gaining experience.
I am also a Portuguese fluent speaker.

My Experience

I have experience which was voluntary in a children's childminder after school club. My duties were helping the kids with homework, playing with them as well as doing fun activities such as drawing , painting or fun games. I also made them healthy snacks and made sure that they were well looked after.
