About Me
Hello! I’m Abi Quyam, an Ofsted registered childminder based in Bedwell, Stevenage. I offer a warm, nurturing home based childcare environment, just a short distance from Stevenage Town Centre and Stevenage Old Town. My goal is to provide a safe and engaging space where children can learn, play, and thrive.
With extensive experience caring for babies as young as 6 weeks up to children aged 8 years. My setting features a dedicated playroom that is both safe and stimulating, equipped with a variety of games, toys, books, music, painting supplies, and educational materials suitable for children from birth to 8 years. The spacious garden provides ample opportunities for outdoor play and exploration throughout the year.
Understanding the challenges of balancing work and parenting, I am committed to working closely with parents to provide flexible, high-quality care tailored to your family’s needs. Please feel free to reach out to discuss how I can support you and your child. Looking forward to hearing from you!
I accept 15 to 30 hours free childcare funding through the government backed initiative “Childcare Choices” available to parents and carers through Hertfordshire County Council.
My Experience
Experience and Qualifications
With 15 years of dedicated experience in the childcare industry, I have extensive expertise in caring for babies from as young as 6 weeks and children up to 8 years old.
As a mother, my personal experience has helped me to enhance my understanding of the needs and routines of both young children and working parents. I am fully insured, first aid qualified, and DBS checked including all members in my household. My last Ofsted inspection was carried out in 2023 and rated as Good by Ofsted.
My Qualifications
First Aid qualified forball ages. Safeguarding Children. EYS Cirrculum course. Observation & Assessment in Children. Food Hygiene Awareness. Level 3 in Childcare qualifed.
My Availability
I currently have limited spaces available. My working hours are typically Monday to Friday 8.00am to 6.00pm.

Abi has to be the best childminder in and around the Stevenage area.
We moved to Stevange about a year and a half ago and started sending my 18-month-old son to Abi when my wife decided to return to work. Abi was very welcoming and suggested a week of settling-in sessions for my son as he never stayed away from my wife and was still breastfeeding. She was accommodating to our needs like making sure our son got food of his choice and often discussed and helped us understand our son's growth and progress which was very useful as first-time parents.
We have seen our son learn so many things like Numbers, poems, alphabets and other activities like painting, colours etc. He enjoyed his time with Abi and always came home cheerful and happy. Special mention of him murmuring Abu's name (Abi-didi) all the time :)

I highly rate Abi as a childminder. My daughter is so happy and settled there and when she goes there she rushes in without looking back. She enjoys being at Abis. Abi is great and communicating on a day to day and sends pictures and updates. My daughter is well looked after fed and also has a chance to nap in the afternoon. I am really happy with her as she is doing a wonderful job.

I needed a childminder that was so understanding and flexible to accommodate all my needs and most importantly someone I could trust with my son. Abiq ticked all the boxes.
She gives me feedback on what happened with my son during the day from how much he ate to how long he slept during his nap time.
She even went the extra length to get the particular brand of yoghurt and fruit pots my son eats as desert.
I will like to add the fact that she and her family are an easygoing bunch.
Thanks for always being for being a great childminder Abi.

Taking my son to Abi is the best decision we made when he turned 1year old. Abi is amazing with my son and the other children. You can see how happy they all are and my baby is always excited when i drop him off. When he comes home he keeps calling her name (i'm not jealous at all 😊) Abi is amazing with these children and i live for those daily photos she sends to me. I would highly recommend Abi.

This lady is simply amazing! She really makes an effort to engage with kids and develop them in a very individualised way. My daughter has been going there for a year now and I couldn’t ask for a better daycare. Also my daughter has an advanced stranger anxiety and Abi managed it very well and helped my daughter overcome it so she doesn't have panic attacks no more! Please keep on the great job that you do. ❤

My son started attending Abi’s since he was about 8 months when it didn’t quite work out at a Nursery. Within a month, he was happier and healthier and now that he’s 2 and half he still attends. I get a lot of comments from people thinking he’s older than he is because he’s very boisterous and has a hang of most things like 4 year olds. I’m really happy with the care and attention Abi has given to my son as I am aware boys can be a handful. He’s very disciplined and well behaved and we couldn’t have asked for a better childminder. The only downside is he tends to prefer Abi’s cooking to mine, the cheeky thing !

After deciding to return to full time work just after moving to a new city, I found myself in the dilemma of choosing between childminders and nurseries. I thank to God that I found Abi - a childminder who treats him in such a loving and caring way that he feels like home at her place and even remembers her during weekend! For me my son's emotional security and development is most important. I feel he should not feel parents' absence at a childminder/nursery and my son never does that with Abi. She keeps him engaged in activities, pamper him with love and guides him like a mother..what more I could wish for!! God bless her!
I can honestly say Abi has been an excellent childminder. My son does a variety of activities there - ranging from painting, craft, puzzle-solving to trips to the nearby parks and play-areas. Abi made my transition to work so smooth which I never imagined. He has been learning new things at her place and improved at many aspects. She gives me proper report of what he did for the whole day and what he ate. He was fussy eater but Abi spent a dedicated time to make him eat good diet. His eating habits have improved, touchwood, after he has started going to Abi's place.
All in all a fantastic, warm, enthusiastic, cheerful, family-type childminders where you know your little one is not only looked after but truly cared for the way you would look after him.
