I'm currently a nursery worker for ‘York Childcare’, I also have an enhanced DBS.
As a part of my job I have completed:
• City of York Safeguarding Children Awareness E-learning
• OFSTED certified Paediatric First Aid Course
• CDP certified ‘Early Years Foundation Stage Made Simple’
• Autism Awareness Course

I’ve spent the past year working in a nursery in York. I have experience working with children ages 6 months up to 4 years old as I work across all three rooms (although I spend most time in the baby room). I have changed a countless amount of nappies, soothed children to sleep every day, consoled crying children and babies, read thousands of books, dressed up in all kinds of costumes and sang many, many songs. I have the responsibility of watching over the children, managing activities, promoting learning through play, bottle feeds, soothing the children to sleep and nappy changes. During mealtimes I prep the table and serve out food for the children, having to take caution of each allergy, tolerance and preference the children have. I also take “observations” which involves taking photos on the nursery tablet of a child doing an activity which is later uploaded for their parents/guardian to see.

Babysitting November 2016 – Present
I’ve been babysitting for a young boy on an adhoc basis since he was around 6 months old and he is now 6 years old. I’ve babysat overnight countless times, as well as his younger sister who I started babysitting overnight at 6 months old and she is now 2 years old. This means I have experience with nappy changes, bottle feeds, meal prep, planning activities and putting children to bed. The last time I babysat for the boy it was for over 24 hours, in this time we went on a walk to the park with his scooter before coming home to get ready for bed. The following day we went on a walk to a river where I had different activities planned, including building a minibeast home, making faces out of natures resources, and collecting all colours of the rainbow that we saw on our walk. I understand the importance of children learning through play and providing activities to keep them occupied.
