About Me

Hello, I'm a single mum to a happy, chatty 2-year-old boy. I am seeking someone to join our little family for 2 days per week with the possibility of increasing to 3 over time, although this isn't essential. My boy is chilled and friendly. He's a bit of an orchid, quiet, likes to sit on the sidelines until he's feeling confident, but very bright and engaging with the adults he loves with a funny, silly streak when he's feeling really confident. I work from home and am self-employed so the hours can be very flexible for the right person offering full or half days if needed to fit around other jobs.

My Requirements

Live In Nanny
Live Out Nanny
Part Time Nanny
Mothers Help
Household Help

I am seeking shame-free and punishment-free respectful childcare for my boy. Someone who will treat him like a full human, with needs that are equally as important as adults. If you're clued up on principals of 'gentle parenting' that's great. In our home we are gentle but firm with boundaries, not permissive, nor authoritarian.

I live right next to Horfield Common so I'm well placed. Outside time is really important and so trips to the park, the woods or playing in the garden are all welcomed. As much opportunity to run, jump, and be a little boy as possible. Our current nanny is about to start a project in the garden to try and grow some veg with him.

He also enjoys playing inside and is mostly happy to play independently if needed with his kitchen or his tool bench, or just tinkering with a toy on the floor. I encourage him to join in with all housework and 90% of the time he wants to help me to do laundry or wash up or hoover, but if he doesn't he knows the alternative is to play alone.

I'd like whoever comes in to step in as me for the day, taking care of light housework and meal prep etc too (with his help), ensuring that at the end of each day the house is tidy, dishes clean and put away etc so that I can finish work and focus on spending time with him, not clearing up.

At the moment, he still naps and feeds to sleep on me but I imagine by September he will mostly have dropped his nap. I'm happy to support a slow settling in period if needed, it's important to me that I'm never leaving him with you unless he's happy for me to. Our current nanny built up time away from me over several months and was very much seen by him as being here as our friend until he had built a bond. I worked upstairs and was in and out frequently, building up over time the amount of time I stayed out of the way, and the length of the trips out of the house without me.

Ideally you can be with us long term as a member of our tribe, but I would like a commitment of at least 6 months.

Initially I would like 2 days, but over time, there may be potential to increase to 3 if you had availability. Though this isn't essential, so don't be put off applying if that wouldn't be possible. There is an outside chance you may be able to start at 3 days, so if you're interested and that's the only thing in the way of applying, please do say hello anyway and let's have a chat. Equally if you can only do 1 day to begin with, please also apply as I'm willing to try and accommodate this for the right person.

I have a massive spare room in my home and being just us, I'd also consider providing the right person with discounted temporary accommodation, so perhaps people from outside of Bristol might also like to apply and use this option whilst they find permanent accommodation here, as I know that can be tricky.

Looking forward to having a coffee with you and exploring how we might be able to make this work.
