Hello, I’m Abi! I have a passion for caring for children; helping them learn and grow in all aspects of their development, supporting big
feelings and having lots of fun! I consider myself to have a ‘muck in’ attitude and I am
always keen to learn new things. I’m a big fan of getting out in the fresh air and exploring in nature whatever the weather, some of my favourite
days out with children I’ve cared for either as a private nanny or as a preschool
assistant have been when we’ve got the muddiest, jumping in big puddles or having
fun exploring the woods/visiting forest schools! I’m a huge advocate for following
children’s interests and creating opportunities for them to fulfil and explore these
interests through play, activities, and days out. I think it’s really important to empower
children to face new challenges and try new things, I don’t think there’s a better reward
than seeing the joy they feel when they achieve, especially when they’ve overcome

My Experience
I started working part time at a lovely village preschool during lockdown in 2020 whilst furloughed from my hospitality job, caring for children 2.5-5 years old. It became clear to me that childcare is my passion and soon became my full time employment. During this time I completed my self funded Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education, along with allergy and paediatric first aid training. My responsibilities included the care of all children within the setting, ensuring their safety, general wellbeing and emotional needs are met at all times, looking after six key children and their development, behaviour management, safe handling of food and drink, personal care and administering of medication and planning fun engaging activities.
Alongside my role at the preschool, I took on the role as the After Schoool Assistant at the local village primary school and gained experience caring for children 5 - 11 years old. My responsibilities for this role included ensuring the safety, general wellbeing and emotional needs of the children in my care, planning activities, homework/learning support, risk assessments and attendance records.
After this I took on a short term teaching assistant role at the village school working with a variety of year groups. My responsibilities included assisting children with their work and learning, interventions with children that needed additional support, finding and delivering alternative learning methods for children in need of additional support, occasionally delivering teachers lesson plans in their absence and supervising lunchtimes - eating and play.
Since then I have been working as a full time private nanny to a family with twin girls. This role has been primarily sole charge Monday - Friday, with some additional overnight stays and weekends during parents absence. My responsibilities include but are not limited to, preparing meals, general housekeeping (laundry and tidying), organising play dates, clubs, school admin, planning activities and days out, working with other professionals to support the family, facilitating and supervising contact time with a parent.
Alongside these roles I have regularly babysat for a number of different families with children of varying ages.

- CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator), February 2023.
- Enhanced DBS certificate May 2023 (on the update service).
- Allergy wise anaphylaxis training July 2020.
- My Skills for life Paediatric First Aid qualified September 2020 (renewing on a course in July 2025).
