About Me

My name is Jodie, I am 20 years old and I am very energetic and smiley person, I love to get stuck in with lots of different activities and I am not afraid to get messy. I love to encourage child led play and support children in learning through their experiences.

I am currently offering babysitting services in the Cullompton and Willand area, I have lots of availability for babysitting and I am available for late requests for the weekends. I try to ensure that I respond to messages quickly and I am happy to provide you with a reassurance message to let you know how your child is doing.

During my babysitting, I like to offer lots of different activity opportunities for children of all ages. I love to discuss with the parents about their child's interests and so I can try to provide activities which will meet their child's needs and interests best. Examples of some activities I like to offer includes arts and crafts such as sponge painting and gluing and sticking, playdough making, physical activities such as obstacle courses and traffic light games and writing practices.

I love the outdoors and I believe lots in the learning through exploring nature. I am more than happy to go out on walks with the children or going to the park with them if you are happy for me to do so.

As well as this, I am a big supporter of providing nurture during my care. I enjoy to offer 1:1 nurture care when looking after children and will give my complete attention on them when running activities. I like to provide opportunities that offers more independence with the children such as offering them chances to help make food with them and doing tidying and washing up with me. Once the activities have finished I will ensure that any mess is cleared up for you to come home.

I have lots of experience in working with a variety of different ages while working with children. I have 3 years experience in while working with children which I have used while gaining in knowledge and experience for children with a variety of additional needs and supporting each child in their learning and development.

My Experience

In year 10 I had work experience at Cullompton Town Council. In it I got a look into what it's like working in an office and learnt different things that people have to do in different jobs. This includes organising, planning and working with other people productively.

During the first lockdown I did volunteer work in Marie Curie where I helped pack up PPE for the nurses and wrote out sympathy cards along with tidying up the office and making drinks for the workers.

I started my work experience at McDonalds where I deal with customers often. I have to do things under pressure and work with people in a team work to get the orders out as quick as possible. I would also try to ensure that I was providing the customers with a good time by using positive communication and listening to their requests.

I have 2 years placement experience in two different preschools where I learned more about the process of handovers by doing shadowing, following policies and procedures, and safeguarding, learning more about supporting children with English as an additional language and creating and running activities as well as building positive relationships. I also learned more about the process of working with parents / other professionals, learning about different SENDs and how to respond with them, writing observations on children as well as building positive relationships with both the children and parents.

I also have 1 year working experience in a day nursery. I worked with children between the ages of 0 and 12 years as I would run activities for the holiday club and work in lots of different rooms and gaining experience in working with children with additional needs and supporting them with meeting their milestones. I was mainly in the room with 2-3 year olds where I would lead lots of different age appropriate activities as well as encouraging outside exploration. When there wasn't a room lead in the room, I would also take charge and lead my groups.

I am currently working in a different nursery, working with children aged 0 to 5 years, where I promote independence and focus heavily on safeguarding, child protection and the welfare of each child.
