My Summary
About Me
My name is Katie!
I can't message any more people on here, so if you're interested, please send me a message!
I'm originally from a small town in Cornwall, and lived there until I was eight. Then, my family started moving around the world to support my dad's career. We lived in India, Egypt and Singapore. Living abroad was an incredible experience, I learnt independence and confidence from a young age, and grew up surrounded by other cultures, ethnicities and religions. As an adult, I carry my upbringing with me, always being as understanding and accepting as I can.
When I was 18, I decided to move back to the UK, alone, to study at university. I did an English Literature course at the University of Brighton. I loved the city so much, I never left. I plan to live here for at least one more year.
My Experience
I started working in childcare in Singapore. Due to my type of visa, I couldn't work professionally, so started babysitting on weekends and after school. I worked with children as young as 9 months, and teenagers who were nearly 16.
I also started a children's party hosting business, where I looked after groups of nearly 30 children at a birthday party! Entertaining them, feeding them, cleaning up and supervising play. (I even made some of them their birthday cakes!)
My main babysitting kids were two twin boys, Thomas and Micheal. They were 7 when I met them and I looked after them a few times a week for nearly 2 years. They were great kids, I would come over after school, do homework with them, tutoring them if they needed it. I'd sometimes cook dinner and then either play with them, or plonk a movie on. Then it was onto their bedtime routine, they would be in bed by 8:30!
I also looked after a 6 year old boy called Remy, after school once a week. I was essentially a big sister to him, we'd play, draw, run around. Until his mum came home from work at 6. Sometimes I would collect him from school, when his parents needed me to.
There was also Polly, who was 8. She had 3 brothers, one older and two younger. I mostly looked after Polly. She was a sweet, quiet girl who needed help with homework, especially english. Polly also needed a big sister, someone to play dress up with, or barbies and have stories read to. With Polly there was a tricky balance of teaching her, and helping with schoolwork and, messing around. I would look after her for 2-3 hours a week, in the evenings.
My Qualifications
I have 9 GCSE's, all A*- B. 3 A-Levels (ABB) and a 2:1 BaHons in English Literature
