About Me
I’m Helen, an Early Years Music Practitioner at Kiddibops, and Nursery Assistant, 3 days a week.
I am a friendly and bubbly person and usually connect well with young children. I love to listen to and understand children and all the curiosities they have. I encourage them to think for themselves and nurture their unique personalities.
For the last few years, I have been in India, where I worked in a Kindergarten which had a big influence of alternative educations. We had a big focus on learning through outdoor, messy and creative play. I was also part of a duo band, where I played trumpet, and we played a mix of English and Hindi songs. We loved to have fun on stage and get people dancing! I also play guitar and love to write songs.
My level 4 Qualification, Music Educators in Early Childhood has really helped me see the benefits of music for young children, in developing language, early learning development and cognitive skills. So I'm pretty much always singing around children!
I have been travelling since I was 21, starting out as an Au Pair for a family in Tenerife and then heading to Kenya, where I volunteered in a childcare centre. I am so grateful to have seen and experienced so much of this world in the past 9 years and gain different experiences from volunteering with different people and working with different families.
My Experience
I have many years experience working with children, from volunteering in a childcare facility in Kenya, working as an Au Pair for 4 different families, and working in a Kindergarten where I also taught music.
I also taught English online during lockdown, which I really enjoyed, and taught me a lot about how children learn English as a second language.
I currently hold Music Sessions for 0-5 year olds in Care Centres, where the residents get to observe and get involved with the children. It is especially beneficial for those with dementia.
I also work in a nursery, where I am completing my Level 3 Early Years Educator Qualification. I have key children which I plan activities for and monitor their development.
I am grateful to have spent so much time with a variety of families, helping me gain a wider understanding of growing children and also parents and their different values with childcare and parenting.
I really value a gentle parenting approach, and treating children as the real little humans they are.
That said, I think it's important to understand each parents perspectives on discipline and work together in a way that works for and benefits the children and the family as a whole.
My Qualifications
Level 4 Music Educators in Early Childhood
Undergoing Level 3 Early Years Educator Qualification
4 A levels in Music, French, Psychology and English Literature.
GCSEs
TEFL Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language)

My fees will vary depending on the work required but between £10-20 per hour.
