About me
I grew up in a village outside of Banbury with my parents, two brothers (one younger and one older), and our dog, socks. I was a very outgoing child, always playing outside, creating my own theatre productions, singing, abseiling of our treehouse, or fishing in the village lake. I believe this upbringing has shaped me into an adventurous, fun, and creative person with a love for the outdoors.
From the ages of 11-18, I attended Kings High School for girls in Warwick. During my time here I was part of the school netball and athletic team which kept me very active. I also took part in numerous theatre performances including a production of The Lion the Witch & the Wardrobe. Academically I loved the humanities subjects; I was particularly fascinated with politics and History (a love probably sparked as a child, watching the CBBC program ‘Horrible Histories’).
Post-school, I have gone on to study Law at the University of Leeds. After university I hope to qualify as a Solicitor, specialising in Family law. I am currently in the second year of university and have decided to take a year out before I complete the final year of my degree. It is throughout this time that I am hoping to find a family to nanny for.
Overall, I am a kind, caring and relaxed individual who will aim to create a fun and safe environment for your child/children.
Why do I enjoy working with children?
So far, I have absolutely loved my experiences in working with children. I find their unfiltered approach to life incredibly entertaining, and I particularly enjoy using my own creativity to enhance their imaginations. Having a younger brother and having parents who were separated, I have naturally taken on a nurturing role throughout my life. Whether it has been for family or for the children I have nannied for I aim to help them feel happier and more empowered. I not only enjoy helping them to explore their own curiosity, but I often find myself leaving them as a more knowledgeable individual. Whilst nannying is not my end career goal I believe the skills it has taught me and continues to teach me will be invaluable to me in the sphere of family law. Being around different family dynamics and recognising the importance of both nature and nurture is something I will always be mindful of.
My Experience
Temporary nanny (March-May 2023)
I looked after 2 children aged 3 and 5 years old. My duties included taking them to the park, going to the library, thinking of fun, local activities to do with them. We also spent lots of time doing arts and crafts and made-up numerous games to play at home. I was also in charge of cooking healthy and easy meals that both children would enjoy. I felt confident in all aspects of care within this role.
Regular babysitter (June 2021-Febuary 2023)
I looked after 2 children from ages 7 and 9. The role consisted of casual cooking, helping with homework, entertaining them without the need of electronics and simply spending time with them. I connected with the family over this period which helped to gain their trust and a mutual understanding which benefited the children
Nanny (July-October)
Within this role I cared for a little girl aged 8 months and a little boy who was 2 ½ years old. I worked afteroons with this family. A typical afternoon consisted of playing with toddler and creating new and exciting games which would inspire his imagination. I would also help him with his potty training. This was still in its early stages and therefore required patients and compassion, as I did not want him to feel disheartened at the occasional accident. When winding down for the evening I would cook a healthy balanced meal for the toddler and feed his little sister her evening bottle which was often followed by a nap. During her nap I would read stories to the little boy, or we would create new stories using his toys as characters until the mum returned to lake them to bed. On occasion I would Babysit for this family. This consisted of similar activities however I would also bath the children and put them to bed.
Nanny (August-ongoing)
I look after 3 children aged 2,4 and 6 years old.
