My Summary

My Experience

I am a big believer that education can be a gateway to real opportunities. Working with young people and exploring and encouraging their interests is also a passion of mine. I have lots of experience of working with young people. I have supported students with and without SEND. These students were aged from two to eighteen. Having a first-class degree in performance means I am an excellent communicator. My work since leaving university reflects this. I have worked in environments which require excellent communication in a variety of forms. An example of this is me devising directing and performing in an immersive children's theatre performance at The Crucible in Sheffield. I have also recently written and performed a piece about the migration crisis which was presented to Sheffield Theatres. This project focused on the migration crisis. It was part of the Migration Matters festival in Sheffield, partnered with the University of Sheffield. I ran workshops with teenagers alongside the project, asking them to look at how global warming will affect the migration crisis and building a performance based on this subject matter.

I have worked in both primary and secondary schools. I have supported students both one to one, in small groups and whole classes. Some of these students have been quite dysregulated, including having Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder. I have used a variety of coping strategies and introducing them to Stanislavski's relaxation technique. This had a positive impact on behaviour. I have worked one to one with students with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I had to plan my own sessions and create my own curriculum. Some
of these students were non-verbal. I had to resource my own interventions, track, and record students' progress, and move on their learning. I have covered secondary school classes, often being the only adult in charge of a class of thirty.

I have taken part in running small theatre festivals. This involved advertising, sourcing funding, and outreach to local theatre makers and creatives. This was done whilst directing, funding, writing, and performing my own projects. The theatre festivals include Migration Matters and the Changemakers Festival. I have also taken part in a screen Yorkshire short comedy film competition two years in a row. I was nominated for best short comedy film. The projects I work on are all fuelled by my own passion. I firmly think that everyone should have access to the arts, especially young people.
