About Me
WELCOME TO BUG AND BEAN CHILDCARE
Bug and Bean childcare is a home from home setting ran by Mary Ottlyk and Stephanie Wilson. Bug and Bean was born from wanting to create a setting that we would be happy for our own children to attend. We wanted a mixture of a loving home from home environment where we knew our children were being nurtured and loved. But also being given a variety of opportunities to explore, play and learn in the hopes of creating well rounded engaging and happy little people.
Bug and Bean is based in Caterham on the Hill, at the home of Mary. We have a large playroom equipped with toys, books, resources and equipment to suit all ages. A designated nap and quiet area, open plan kitchen/diner for meals and crafts The garden is fully secure with lots of space to run around and play. Just on our doorstop is Kenley aerodrome and Coulsdon common ready for adventures.
Alongside following the EYFS curriculum we will take our inspiration from the children.
Activities and outings will be planned around the children's interests and will be designed to encourage them to achieve the next steps.
We use an App to keep parents informed of the children's day. We upload photos and videos. Track feeds, naps and changes. all contracts and policies are also available on the app.
My Experience
Mary and Steph met as mums to be on an NCT course. They have become firm friends since their children were born and keen to explore what other opportunities lay ahead for them after maternity leave, we have embarked on this amazing adventure having spent the last year bringing up our own children, supporting friends with childcare and studying early years.
Steph
Steph’s background has been predominantly working within the arts. She has a degree in drama and spent 7 years working within talent management before moving into recruitment. Steph is passionate about the arts, music and storytelling. She will spend her time at Bug and Bean encouraging the children to use their imagination through play, find joy in the pages of a book and have a good old boogie to get those bodies moving.
Mary
Mary is the oldest of five siblings so is no stranger to a busy house. A trained beautician she has spent the last 12 years ensuring the residents of Wimbledon are pampered, relaxed and well groomed. A love for the outdoors and all things green fingered. Mary will be encouraging all the children to get outside to explore, discover and create whatever the weather.

My Availability
Wrap around care (School Drop off and pick up) available Monday to Friday 7.30am drop off (includes Breakfast) latest pick up 6pm (includes Dinner)
Full time care available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8am drop off and latest pick up 6pm. Early drop off available for an additional £5 at 7.30am (includes Breakfast)
Full time care includes Lunch, Dinner and Snacks.

It’s crazy how two strangers can make you feel so at ease with leaving your babies with them. My twins love going to them, they have never been sad about going or refused - they feel that way about coming home!
I want to keep these lovely women to myself, they are amazing carers, communicators and teachers - my twins have learnt so much.

My son has been with Mary and Steph for around 2 months, they have been amazing with him. They always have great activities planned for the day, and my son is always happy to be in their care.
They are both very professional and have extensive knowledge in childcare and education.
