About Me

I have always aspired to assist children to learn and develop while caring for them. I recently got accepted to Norland college which is a high profile university in bath that specializes in nannying. Unfortunately due to funds I was unable to attend but am looking to save to enroll there.
Working in child care is both physically and emotionally challenging, however I believe it is the most rewarding career, in particular the impact you have on a child's life by caring for them and teaching them to improve their cognitive and emotional development as well as seeing them reach their developmental milestones. a lot of family and friends noticed from an early age, my love to care for and support babies and young children.
In college I chose to study health and social care as I researched the course thoroughly and was motivated to learn about child development, psychology, anatomy, and physiology and safeguarding. This is a challenging course to study because of the workload and ongoing assessments that include exams and work placement. I have enjoyed developing my understanding of children through the course and how to support children with autism from an early age to their full potential. There is also a life span unit which I specifically enjoyed because it helped me to understand the development of children looking into the physical and cognitive development in more depth. Assignments have helped me to improve my organization and time management skills because of the amount of work and deadlines. The course expects me to go on 100 hours of placement, this prepares me for the workplace and gives me an idea of working in health and social care is like. On my first placement I attended a nursery this gave me experience working with children and how rewarding it can be. Being assessed in these ways is important to prepare me to be able to deliver critical thinking, problem solving and time management. I have continuously developed my critical and analytical writing and finished with high grades.
I currently work a full time job as a senior care worker in a children’s home. This job has given me experience with children with learning disabilities which has been testing but also rewarding. Being a senior means leading shifts, key working and extra responsibilities. This has been difficult to navigate at such a young age but has given my many skills that I would have never practiced elsewhere.

My Experience

I am the kind of person who likes to keep busy. In the summer I helped the family with babysitting as much as possible, taking on the responsibility of looking after my younger cousins to help me to gain as much experience as possible. My parents owned businesses growing up, so I started working at the age of 12. During my time at MPM Catering I worked on a catering unit at some of the biggest shows and venues in the UK, these include Southampton boat show, the NEC, and Murrayfield stadium. This job helped me to improve my teamwork, we had to work in a small space putting systems in place to ensure we did our job fast and efficiently. I have also worked at Hughes caterers here I work at smaller events like weddings and funerals. This helps me with organization skills because we only have a short amount of time to serve 100 or more people. I have also worked in a nursery caring for young children. This job has helped me to develop skills with both adults and children as well as opening Opportunities to expand my knowledge by learning from other colleagues and taking courses like food and hygiene, dealing with choking, behavior management and more. My responsibilities include feeding the children, changing nappies, and helping them to learn and understand the world around them. This job Is a specifically rewarding job because you get to see the children reach their milestones and have a significant impact on a child’s life.
