My Experience

Private Governess/Nanny
Radlett - London
June 2022 – Present
Sole charge governess nanny for a private family. As a live-in nanny I am responsible for all things associated to the care and wellbeing of the 2 children I care for. Mostly sole care. My daily duties include but are not limited to – preparing the children in the morning, dropping them off and collecting them from school. Ensuring they attend after school activities and booking more age-appropriate activities for the weeks ahead where necessary. Liaise with teachers about the children’s progress and give feedback to the parents. Whilst they’re at school I prepare a meal for the children and healthy snacks for the week ahead and oversee the cleanliness and tidiness of their rooms, including doing their laundry. I also run errands, do food shopping, and light housekeeping. In the evenings I bath the children after giving them dinner, help with their homework then get them ready and put them to bed.

Lead Children Practitioner
Dreams Daycare - Insch
October 2020 to June 2022
I run a room of about 8 staff and 30 children from the age of 18 months to 3 years old. I support my staff in their role of childcare and ensure that we keep all children’s paperwork up to date by organizing catch up meetings with parents and keep it filed away according to data protection ensuring confidentiality is maintained in the nursery.
I contribute to staff meetings; support and liaise with the manager on a daily basis; plan and prepare activities to develop all aspects of the children’s individual development in a stimulating atmosphere. I liaise with parents and negotiate working targets ensuring effective communication within the nursery. I keep and monitor accidents, incidents, and risk assessment records. I am always supporting and being a positive role model for all staff, students and children. I offer all children equal opportunities in regard to their religious persuasion, racial origin, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic backgrounds. I also practice the ELC format and building ambition with children from pre-birth to 3 years of age.

Governess
Private family in Oyne
March 2020 to September 2020
I cared for 3 children over this period which was during the COVID pandemic as both parents were key workers. I upheld standards as set forth by the parents in regards to safety and household cleanliness. I prepared and cooked 2-3 healthy, family-friendly meals and snacks per day and when suitable included the children in this activity. My duties also included some light housekeeping, including but not limited to washing dishes, cleaning, and sanitizing countertops and eating surfaces, sweeping/vacuuming all rooms in the house, in addition to general tidying and organising. I used creative, interactive, and engaging teaching methods to encourage developmental learning skills and planned fun activities to develop cognitive, numerical, and verbal reasoning skills. I lead stimulating activities, helping the children develop different skills in activities such as arts/crafts, baking, reading, music(song/dance) and when able to, some outdoor sports.

Support Worker
Personal Support Worker
December 2018 to March 2020
I cared for a young disabled boy every Saturday during this time period. I was required here to help Conor gain more social skills, support his needs and just be his friend. We’d spend the day out in our local city doing activities, as he was bound to his wheelchair our activity choice was limited but his favourite thing to do was to go to the cinema. Alongside this we would go out for meals together or visit the beach. Sometimes we would spend the day at his house watching movies or playing video games together. This job gave me a lot of insight into caring for those with alternate needs in a way which was different to my other work in nurseries/schools. I ensured the emotional, physical, and psychological needs were met, and maintained his safety and also provided personal care.

Lead Children Practitioner
Oyne out of school club - Oyne
December 2018 to March 2020
I managed my own morning and after school club. I was responsible for the individual care of all the children that attended, alongside my colleagues. I was also responsible for the buying and preparing of all food and ensured a safe clean environment was provided throughout the club. As the manager it was up to me to ensure rota’s were in place in order for health and hygiene procedures to be carried out effectively and signed off once checked by myself. I also communicated with parents on a daily basis to discuss their child/children and kept records in GIRFEC folders where parents were always welcome to look at whenever they wished.
