Hello, my name is Sam. I’ve been living in Bristol for 22 years, married for 19 years and I’m a full time Mum to my three daughters who are aged 17, 15 and 11. My interests are reading, cycling, walking our dog and spending time with friends.
My Experience
I’ve been a foster carer for just over 4 years. We care for children from newborn up to age of 5. We currently don’t have any children placed with us but this can change on a day to day basis which can be incorporated to working as a nanny. We have had 18 children come through our house whether for a longer stay or for day care/respite care.
I moved to Bristol in 2002 to study adult nursing and worked for 4 years as a nurse until I stopped nursing to raise our children. The past 2 years I have been working on the bank at our local hospital as nursing assistant.
I have a lot of experience caring for children of different ages and experience of working with families. I enjoy being creative with setting up activities for children, taking time reading, days out, having routines and I’m confident with newborn care.
My Qualifications
I do not have formal qualifications related to child care but lots of experience. I have also done a lot of training through my years as a foster carer which includes first aid training, safeguarding, equality and diversity, therapeutic parenting, speech and language and communication, early years development and caring for babies.
