My Experience

When it comes to working with students, the first thing I like to do is assess how they like to learn. I feel that forming positive relationships is a key element in creating successful learning outcomes.

Often, I find that key questioning and assessment techniques are useful in understanding how the student can extract the most out of each session. I would then adapt future lessons according to what the student responds to. I like to provide students with challenging work in small, manageable chunks that enable them to feel a sense of accomplishment with the successful completion of each task.

I tend to find that students make steady progress when using assessment for learning strategies to form a tailored method of delivery for each student. I also find positive reinforcement to be useful for keeping the student engaged and consistently ready to learn.

Naturally, all children are curious to learn but at times circumstances can affect their ability to access the curriculum. Ultimately, my role as tutor is to develop a personalised strategy to reignite the student's interest in education, and make learning more enjoyable so they make consistent and measurable progress over time.
