About Me

I have over 10 years worth of experience working with children of all ages with all kinds of behavioral challenges including Complex PTSD, neurological challenges, autism and ADHD. I am therefore aware of how to approach challenging situations should they arise with calmness, creativity and adaptability.

I have worked with young girls and young boys in groups and one to one settings with these challenges and have successfully supported them in taking part in social group activities and nature activities. Some examples are; I supported a young girl with epilepsy helping her to self regulate, assist in medication taking and in safe engagement of activities such as swimming and nature play and playing with other children. I worked with a young boy with high level autism who communicated through sound alone and sometimes expressed aggressive behavior, I supported him to feel safe and to communicate with his body. This felt very rewarding work. I have also cared for neurotypical children of all ages, helping them read, write, play, explore, wash, cook and create. I very much enjoyed seeing their imaginations soar with non directional play techniques and I enjoyed helping brothers and sisters learn to take turns and listen to each other!

My caring approach is playful, loving and grounded. I treat life as an adventure and as an opportunity to express the fullness of our unique selves and I love encouraging this in children. I use skills in non-directional play to support children in using and developing their imagination and helping them to develop a strong sense of self. I understand the importance of helping children feel safe, calm, and supported, so I practice being consistent in my approach and consistent with setting healthy boundaries. I can help children learn to be with and process their emotions in healthy ways that will support them in their future. I can assist in co-regulation, soothing with sound, music and hugs. I can support them in building trust in themselves and in others by using mirroring techniques and demonstrating my own emotional regulation abilities.

I also have a beautiful, gentle kind-natured pooch companion who also loves to play and explore the nature with us and loves making new friends.

I am nutrition conscious so I know how to prepare nourishing food with awareness and care.

I have a background in singing and theatre and am trained as a holistic therapist and life guide supporting adults to process childhood trauma. I am therefore trauma-informed and can offer to work with parents with parenting challenges should the support be required.
