About Me

Hi families! My name is Chloe and I'm originally from Ireland. I am a caring and gentle Early Years Professional with a lifelong love for working with children and currently making the exciting transition to becoming a nanny. I have over ten years of hands on experience working with children, including children with additional needs beginning with babysitting for local families as a teenager before completing my degree in Early Years Education and Care and later becoming preschool room leader.

I am highly dependable and adaptable to children's ever changing needs and interests. I strongly encourage children's curiousity and plan stimulating activities according to their interests, fostering their development through creative play.

I would love to find a family to stay working with for a long term position. I have an up to date DBS and have taken a Paediatric First Aid course (but due an update soon!). Please get in touch to learn more about my knowledge and training and see if I could be the right fit for you and your family!

My Experience

Since becoming an older sister at age seven, I have had an immense interest in caring for others. I began babysitting for local families both long term during summer holidays and short term on the occasional days and evenings at sixteen years old.

After completing school, I went on to study Applied Social Studies with Psychology and earned my foundation degree. I studied and acquired a distinction in the following modules:

• Psychology
• Social studies
• Intercultural studies
• Communications
• Young People and society
• Human growth and development
• Substance use issues for youth work

During my social studies, it became clear to me that my passion was with children and I wanted to work specifically with younger children. I attended Munster Technological University at home in Ireland and studied Early Years Education and Care. This was a four year long degree and I acquired an Honours degree from my study of the following modules:

• Early learning and play
• Promoting health in early years
• Skills for child health and child safety
• Child psychology
• Psychology of atypical development
• Creative dance and drama
• Visual art and music
• Language, numeracy and literacy
• Bilingualisim and multilingualism in early education
• Outdoor learning
• Inclusive education
• Physical education
• Adapted movement activities
• Leading health and wellbeing promotion
• Professional development
• Professional communication
• Childhood and social policy
• Child and family law
• Global justice in early education and practice
• Social policy analysis
• Evidence based practice in early years
• Research methods
• Psychology of group and interpersonal dynamics
• Curriculum leadership and management
• Enterprise for early childhood sector

During practice placements, I gained experience working with preschool age children and acquired a strong interest in helping children to understand and regulate their emotions. I advocate for children's voices to be paramount in their learning and care and follow their individual interests and needs.

I also gained valuable experience working with primary school aged children with autism on a 1:1 basis. I worked with verbal and non verbal children, supporting their learning throughout the school day using a variety of personalised methods such as visual aids, sand timers and sensory stimulation and play.

When I moved to London last year, I worked in a nursery with children aged 1-2 before moving up to the preschool room (children ages 3-5) when it opened and later becoming the room leader. I was responsible for planning daily activities, leading the team and communicating with parents during pick ups, drop offs and termly developmental meetings. I also communicated with parents throughout the day on the nursery app, providing relevant updates, pictures and swiftly answering any concerns or queries. I wrote detailed termly reports detailing each child's progress under the seven areas of the EYFS; communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, physical development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.
