About Me

Hello!

We are looking for a part-time nanny to help support our family when I return to work full-time in February 2025.

We live just outside Chinley, in The Wash and my husband and I have a 7 month baby girl, who will be 1 when we need help.

From February, our daughter will be going to nursery Tuesday - Friday (I don't work Mondays).

My husband and I are both journalists: I work in the UK but my husband works exclusively overseas.

I am looking for help when he is away, which is roughly for 2-3 weeks, every 4 weeks or so (i.e. he’ll be home for 4 weeks, and then away for 2-3 weeks). Sometimes it may be more, sometimes a bit less but that’s roughly it and we normally have good notice as to the exact dates that he’ll be away (normally we know rough dates 2 months in advance, exact dates a month in advance).

My work can mean that I am not home before 8.30pm, sometimes it can be later (and I often don’t know what hours will be until that same day).

We would love to find someone who we can really rely on for those times that my husband is away. In an ideal world, we would love to find someone who could collect our daughter from nursery in Hayfield at 5.45pm (Tuesday - Friday, when my husband is away), help with tea, bath and bedtime and then remain at home with her until 830pm (we could guarantee those hours) but then with the flexibility to stay later on the odd occasion where needed, at short notice. We wouldn’t expect any overnights, but very, very rarely we might need to ask someone to stay as late at 1130pm. There will definitely be many times when I am actually home much earlier than 830pm but given that we are looking for someone to be flexible for us, we are totally happy to pay a minimum number of hours per day, as above, even if we don’t use them all entirely. We could also discuss guaranteeing a minimum number of hours per month, if that would help retain someone for when we do need to rely on them.

I hope I have explained that clearly - our situation is certainly a bit unusual but we don’t want to have to rely on a medley of babysitters, as we would much rather find a lovely nanny who our daughter can really get to know and be a bit of a constant when my husband is away.

I think this would suit a nanny who is looking to do some part time, extra evening hours but who would prefer to do them with one family rather than multiple ones. We can also be flexible around your holiday needs etc, so hopefully our flexibility might actually suit some people down to the ground!
