My Summary
About Me
Hello my name is Lesley,
I live in the small country village of Stoke Prior, just 3 miles from Bromsgrove Town Centre, 4 miles from Droitwich Town Centre and within easy access to the M5/M42 leading to Birmingham and Worcester
I live with my 2 daughters, Maddison 16 years, Summer 15 years and 9 year old son Dylan.
We have a 11 year old cocker spaniel dog who is very well behaved around the children and very sociable, and 2 chickens, Betty and Bluebelle.
I am a very bubbly, energetic and social person.
I provide a welcoming home from home environment,
I received an OUTSTANDING grading on my OFSTED inspection in November 2021
We enjoy doing plenty of art and craft activities, and cooking activities during the week, the children are encouraged to help choose daily activities.
Activities are also planned around the individual children's current interests and development.
The lounge is the main area where most of the toys are stored and the children can choose what they would like to play with. Free choice is encouraged as well as adult led activities to help achieve children’s next steps. There is a quite area with a book box with a range of different reading materials and cushions for some quiet time. Story Sacks and a rhyme bag to share during our daily circle time. We have a small role play area to excite children’s imaginations, including dress up which is changed regularly such as play kitchen, tool work bench or a market stall.
There is a downstairs bathroom with toilet and hand washing facilities for the children, and there is a nappy changing area with individual baskets for the children’s nappies, wipes etc. There are toddler toilet seats and potties available for the children to use depending on their preference.
The kitchen area is mainly used for meal times and also for art/cooking activities. The fridge is used to store children’s packed lunches and a microwave available to heat up any meals. I have a steam sterilizer to clean any dummies, or feeding equipment as necessary.
There is a large enclosed garden at the rear of the house which backs on to large farming fields. There is currently sand and water trays, see saw and stepping stones, there is also a variety of windy day items, parachute, hula hoops and balls etc. We have a lovely mud kitchen with lots of different materials, recipes, equipment and fresh herb plants for the children to excite their imagine with creating potions and mud pies. There is a play house with drawing materials, and various role play toys for free play with their friends. We have a little vegetable patch at the bottom of the garden where the children enjoy planting various fruits and vegetables. The children enjoy the responsibility of taking care of the plants and then once its time to harvest our produce we eat it for snack or cook something delicious with them. We have recently added a tepee for the children to have quiet time with books, cushions, and throws.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework. The framework sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well, it ensures children are kept healthy and safe, and it ensures that children have the knowledge and skills they need to start school.
The 3 prime areas are:
• communication and language
• physical development
• personal, social and emotional development
The specific areas are:
• literacy
• mathematics
• understanding the world
• expressive arts and design
Using this framework, observations of the children at play, talking with parents about children’s current interests and achievements at home, I plan a range of activities during the week/month to help further develop each of the children’s individual developmental milestones.
We are a paperless business and currently use an online Software System called Baby’s Day’s. Baby’s Day’s is a safe data protected online system where parents and carers only have access to their own individual child/ren’s information.
Baby’s Day’s allows parents and carer’s complete access to your child’s learning and development; it provides a platform to easily communicate between myself and the parents, sharing daily information about your child/ren, photos and videos.
Baby’s Day’s gives parents’ access to attendance registers, next steps, development, planning, accident forms, medication forms, consents forms, policies and procedures. There is an Isign option available for parents to be able to sign all forms online using an online signature.
Baby’s Day’s is easily accessible by downloading the FREE app onto your android, iphone or computer, using the log in details provided by myself to create an account.
Observations and assessments are made regularly for each child to help keep track of their developments and to help plan activities to help encourage further development and experiences.
We enjoy visiting a variety of local toddler groups, getting out to play at parks (Lido, Wychbold, Arrow Valley Lake, Lickey's), we often take a picnic with us and spend the day there, we love sharing story books at the library both in Droitwich and regularly attend the rhythm and rhyme sessions .
We like to get out and about a lot and make use of the beautiful countryside we live in by visiting the fields, woods, canal and local National Trust properties on a regular basis.
I have a merlin pass and like to visit Warwick Castle, Sea Life Centre Birmingham and Lego Discovery Centre regularly.
I have use of a double pushchair and child back carrier for walks and have an age-appropriate range of child car seats for use in my car which is fully insured for childminding use. We sometimes use public transport e.g. a bus and trains to get to local places.
I can cater for a range of food allergies. Allergies are taken into consideration when planning activities such as baking and alternative ingredients are used to ensure activities are inclusive for all of the children. These will be discussed with parents prior to the activities.

15/30 hour funded child care

My son has been going to Lesley's since he was 10 months old (he's now 3) Lesley looks after him very well. I get photo messages showing what he is doing plus a detailed diary giving me a great insight into his day and what he's had to eat/ drink etc. He enjoys his time at Lesley's and he gets to do various activities in her house and garden and visit local parks and toddler groups plus day trips out including going to the safari park. My sons confidence has grown immensely since being with Lesley and we will both miss her greatly whilst she is on maternity leave.
Lesley is a really great childminder. She treats all the children individually and her home is happy and full of fun. My daughter has been going to her since 9 months old and has now just turned 3, I go to work, totally at ease that my daughter is in safe hands, being cared for, learning new skills and having a great time too. I highly recommend Lesley
