About Me

Hi, my name is Abi and I am looking for a nanny/childcare role for Mondays and Tuesdays.
I currently work part time for the British Red Cross in Emergency Response on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays so am looking for something to complement this.

I love working with children and have previously spent a year as a Live-in Nanny over in Colchester, a year as a Teaching Assistant at an Infant and Nursery School, and have been volunteering as a leader for a local Beaver and Cub Scout group for over 10 years now.

At the moment, I am happy to offer childcare within your own home (as well as out an about for activities etc.) but am absolutely fine with sole-charge care as long as you are comfortable with this in your home. I also have a full clean driving licence and my own vehicle and am more than happy to transport your child(ren).

I am also available for ad-hoc babysitting either in addition to a childcare role or for others who only require occasional care.

Please feel free to drop me a message to discuss what is is you need!

My Experience

I have been babysitting for local families and family friends for 10+ years which has included caring for children from new-borns up to 16 years old - during the daytime, evenings and overnight. This has also included school pick ups/drop offs and taking to extra-curricular activities (plus supervision at these), as well as looking after children with SEN difficulties.

I was also a live-in nanny for two young girls in Colchester for almost a year. I had sole responsibility for the girls from wake up, school/nursery drop offs, daytime activities, pick ups, bath/bed routines, homework and meal times. I really enjoyed my time with this family, which is why I am keen to find something similar. I regularly took the girls out on day trips, play dates, birthday parties, half term events, and even started working with the youngest on learning to swim. I also had sole care of the girls for several overnight periods due to the parents work commitments.

I have been a Beaver and Cub (ages 5-11) Scout leader for over 10 years, supporting the team at weekly meetings in and out of our 'scout hut' planning and running various games and activities for the children. We also run fun weekend activity camps including swim sleepovers, back-to-basics camps, water activity weekends and summer activity camps. This is something I've always enjoyed, having grown up through Scouts myself, and will always encourage and support other children in receiving the same opportunities that I did through this.

I was a Teaching Assistant in an Infant and Nursery School, supporting various children with additional needs in a classroom environment, as well as in 1-to-1 spaces where they needed further support/attention. In particular, where these children required some time focusing on their core learning such as fine motor skills, phonics and reading, and other nurture or social related development.

I have also been a private tutor, both in person and through an online platform supporting in a government funded scheme of catching students up following Covid lockdowns and school closures. I focused on up to GCSE level, usually tutoring in Maths.

My Qualifications

Academic:
BA (hons) Criminal Justice and Criminology - 2.1
A levels in Maths, Psychology and Law - AAB
GCSEs in Maths, Additional Science, Spanish, Media Studies and Textiles - A*
GCSEs in English Language and Literature, Core Science, Business Studies and History - A
Career:
Relevant training through British Red Cross and UK Scout Association - including extensive Safeguarding training, health and safety, First Aid Certificates.

My Availability

I currently have a part time job with the British Red Cross on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays so am ideally looking for something on Mondays and Tuesdays.
I can also be free for ad-hoc or scheduled babysitting in evenings and weekends if required.
Any questions, please feel free to drop me a message and we can discuss availability/requirements.
