My Summary

My Experience

As a nursery worker we often had three distinct groups - babies (6 months to 15 months), toddlers (15 months to 3 years) and pre-schoolers (3 to 5 years). I often worked part-time completing approximately 20 hours a week with different shift patterns. In my voluntary capacity I served in my Church’s Sunday School with the 3-5 year olds which would often be an hour each Sunday. Every summer my Church organises a Vacation Bible School week which is approximately the same hours as a school day - 8:30 till 3:00. Here I would float between the different age groups in facilitating work whether it would be devising Bible games, arts & crafts or dance routines to be performed for the Church. I also volunteered in Nurseries during my studies. I would typically attend between 16:00 - 18:30 two to three days per week. Here I engaged the children in different play activities, supported with personal care and assisted in eating and drinking. As a teaching assistant the work often varied between primary and secondary schools. In primary schools I took on more of a parent-teacher role with responsibilities such as supporting the pupils with their academics and also helping to navigate social situations. Secondary schools involved acting in more of a supportive role. I often helped in Maths and Sciences as per my area of expertise. Supported students and ensured a safe environment and encouraged student wellbeing.

My Qualifications

I am trained in paediatric basic life support and although I do not have any formal qualifications I have through observing in experience a basic understanding of what is required and when to appropriately escalate.
