About Me
We are a family of 3 who live in Angel, off of Upper Street, and in the process of looking for after school, and ideally school holiday, childcare for our 5 year old son, Finn, who has special needs. We are looking for a patient and caring childminder, who has experience working with children who have additional needs/neurodiverse. The hours are from 3.30pm until 6.30pm (Mon to Thu) and 3.30pm to 8pm on Fridays. Ideally we would prefer to have a childminder who is also able to look after Finn full-time during school holidays as well, but appreciate this may not be possible.
Finn, who is 5, has additional needs and is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Finn is pre-verbal and is currently learning how to use PECS to communicate, in addition to having speech therapy sessions.
Finn is generally placid by nature and particularly enjoys numbers and letters, along with visits to the park, nursery rhymes and playing with cars and trains.
My Requirements
Finn can say a limited number of words however he is unable to communicate using sentences. We're in the process of potty training him and have just started to learn Makaton and PECS to help with his communication. We also use reins when outside with Finn as he doesn't understand road safety.
The role will include meeting Finn from his Local Authority school bus, making him a snack and, weather permitting, taking Finn to the local park for an hour, or engaging in play at home.
