About Me

Hi I’m Hollie! I have lived all my life in Islington, where I also studied, since primary school and all the way through university, which I’m currently completing. Even though I have lived in London my whole life, my heart belongs in the countryside, and any chance I get, I love spending time surrounded by nature alongside my daughter.

From a young age I knew I wanted to work in the care sector, supporting positive change. Although I considered different alternatives, it was only after I had my own child that I found the Early Years to be my true passion. They say ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and I look forward to being part of that village for all the families who may need it.

I love working with children, seeing the world from their perspective, and creating activities based on their uniqueness. I really believe I can learn more by observing children playing and using their imagination than in any lecture or class I could attend.

I belive i can offers a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn, play, and grow while their parents or guardians are at work or need childcare support. I can provide individualised care, engaging activities, and a caring atmosphere for children. From working in the early years i am able to follow a daily routine that includes playtime, meals, educational activities, and rest periods. I love finding ways to focus on creating a supportive and stimulating environment that promotes children's development and well-being.

My Experience

I have studied early childhood studies for the last 4 years, it has given me knowledge and experience but i believe the thing that helps me to be a better practitioner or adult in general is I am a mother to the most beautiful, kind, strong, creative little girl. Even battling with the many changes and challenges of motherhood brought, i fell in love with being a mum, i found the experience the most wonderful thing. The love from a child can change hearts and perspectives. I slowed down alot with my daughter, & saw the beauty in life. While pouring love, time and energy in to my little one , i found myself more, it is healing to me. We love being out and about, exploring nature. Just me and my little girl love to travel too different places in the uk but also Europe! We love our stay and plays or soft play. I am always finding child friendly activities/ attractions to do.

At the age of 12 i became a young carer, my mother suffers with disabilities , duringy teenage years i had to support my mum with every day things such as dressing, cooking/feeding, cleaning, helping with younger siblings by taking my brothers to school and nursery/help with pick ups if needed. I would bring my baby brother stay and plays , day outs so our mother could rest.
This experience taught me bitter sweet moments to life. I matured alot faster but loved helping my mother when needed and supporting my brother with whatever they needed.

To earn pocket money, i began baby sitting , it started with younger siblings, then cousins, then family friends children. This was throughout secondary school and college times. I would mostly do afters school , evenings or weekends.

While completing my health and social care level 3 in college, i had to complete 250 hours in a early year setting. I was able to complete mine in a primary school which i loved so much, I realised i wanted to work with children. I helped the teachers and TAs with the room such as setting up activities, reading or playing with the children, helping with meal times. I was able to spend my time children of various ages in reception, year 1 and 2.

Since 2021 , i have been completing full time in my degree in early childhood studies and working part time in private nurseries. Working in a nursery can support me in being a child minder/baby sister by providing valuable experience in caring for and engaging with children in a group setting. It can help me with develop skills in managing multiple children, creating stimulating activities, and understanding the diverse needs of children. Additionally, working in a nursery can offer insights into effective communication with parents, collaborating with other staff members, and implementing best practices in childcare. This experience enhances my abilities as a child minder and enrich the quality of care provide to the children under in supervision.
