Hello! My name is Lauren and I’m 20. I am a kind and hardworking person who loves children. I’m really good at cleaning too. As I am a university student, I’m looking for lots of hours over summer. I have a patient and understanding approach with children, and I value spending time with them. In my spare time (those few hours we get after the children are in bed!) I like to read and go to the gym.
My Experience
My family have been foster carers for a long time and we only stopped because we adopted a child we were looking after. I love spending time with him and being his big sister. At the moment, I do most of his school runs and like taking him out for treats too. I have my own car.
While we were fostering, I acted as a role model for children who stayed with us and helped them to settle in. As such, I am a very patient and welcoming person. I understand every child is different and I enjoy taking the time to get to know them. Back in Year 13, I acted as a Reading Buddy to a Year 7 student and really built his confidence. I’m a confident leader and was elected Company Stage Manager of my university theatre, the Nottingham New Theatre. However, what I love about working with children is that nothing ever works out as you expect!
My Qualifications
Enhanced DBS with Calderdale, also years of living within a fostering household. I played a very important role in helping my adopted brother to settle in. I have a driving license and car. If required, I am willing to undertake short online courses in first aid or childcare. I was elected to my university theatre’s committee due to my hard work and sense of responsibility. I also wrote blogs for my university, and my manager can count on me to reach a deadline.
