My Summary

My Experience

I have spent six years caring for my two younger siblings from a young age. This was mainly because my mother was disabled from a condition that made small everyday tasks very difficult, and my father was working full time and would work different hours every week. This has helped me to gain amazing time management skills as I had to constantly make time so that I could multitask completing homework whilst also revising for my GCSEs as well as being a positive role model and parent figure. I was having to build effective schedules for them and make sure that their hygiene was good as well as the hygiene of the environment we were all living in.

I have also spent a month doing 8-hour babysitting shifts at someone’s house where I was having to look after a ten- and six-year-old. I was left with many responsibilities such as providing high standards of care to both of the children whilst also creating two healthy meals during the day, which was helping me to learn and manage my hygiene skills to ensure that all the food was prepared in a safe, clean environment. I was also actively demonstrating patience as I was having to constantly watch over them, making sure they were entertained and that I was listening to them. I also had to be very punctual as I made sure that I was at their house at half six every morning before the parents left for work. During the day, I was then providing the children with a productive, safe learning environment.

As well as my previous childcare experience, I have also spent a week of work experience at my old primary school where I was based in a year two classroom. I sat and helped the students that struggled to understand the work which I would then have to reword and explain so that they could understand what they needed to do.

My Qualifications

I have achieved GCSEs in nine subjects including Maths (C), English (A), Science (C).

My Availability

I am available most days during the day especially during the summer.
