About Me
I enjoy encouraging play, I love to read stories and I am comfortable with bed time routines. I often use Thrive techniques to encourage children to be part of decisions especially those who are resistant to bed time!
My Experience
I am a recently retired qualified teacher (Subject: English/Literacy) with 12 years experience teaching children from 6 up to 16 years old with special needs. I have brought up my own 3 daughters and before teaching I was a Youth Worker and when my own were young, a Brown Owl! I have an enhanced DBS currently. Only recently moved into Somerset and out of teaching.
My Qualifications
My qualifications are mostly education orientated. I have a BA, MA, National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership (NPQSL), CELTA (teaching speakers of other languages) although also I have been trained in Trauma Informed practices and Thrive. I have basic first aid from when I was a leader in the Girl Guide Association and I am currently studying again around barriers to children enjoying reading and how to encourage them - probably not your typical babysitter.
My Availability
In general I am available most evenings although there will be occasions (I anticipate this being weekends) when I am not because I am expecting my own adult daughters to visit.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £10.00 per hour
My fees currently reflect the 'extra' I bring. This is a new role for me and I am trialling how it might work. I reserve the right to change this depending on how this trial progresses.
