My Summary
About Me
I am a fit mum of 5, all flown the nest, so bags of personal experience raising a family!
I love working with children and young people and their families and in recent years I have worked in education, supporting secondary pupils who have various neurodivergent conditions. I believe everyone has what they need to fulfill their potential and I work tirelessly to build character, emotional health and resilience with everyone I work with.
I am a practical person and a good problem solver but I also love philosophy and considering our purpose in this world! I like to think 'big' and consider myself to be very open-minded and inclusive.
I love yoga, particularly with young people and I am a keen gardener, walker and reader. I am also a vegetarian and love all animals but particularly dogs and horses.
I love to visit my children as often as I can and I enjoy travelling.
My Experience
I trained as a Nursery Nurse and worked as a Deputy/Supervisor in Day Care before becoming a nanny in Japan for 6 months.
On my return to the UK I trained as a Social Worker and worked in Fostering and Adoption and Therapeutic social work. For 10 years I raised my family (2 step-children and 3 of my own, all happy and independent) and then I became a Teaching assistant in our local Primary School, working with EYFS, Foundation and Year 1.
After 10 years of being a TA I started my own Care Agency, supporting older people in their homes to maintain their dignity and independence by offering companionship and practical and emotional support.
During this time I became a Teen Yoga teacher and yearned to return to working with younger people so I became a TA in a local secondary school, supporting students with EHCP's and SEND.
Due to personal circumstances I relocated to the Cambridge area and became a TA at Comberton Village College where I worked in a unit supporting students with autism and ADHD.
I currently work in a Nursery in Cambridge, supporting 3/4 year olds, encouraging their creativity, learning and building character and resilience to aid a smooth transition to primary school.
My Qualifications
I hold a NNEB Certificate, a CQSW Certificate (Social Work but not registered now as a SW), a Yoga Teacher Certificate, a Teen Yoga Specialist Certificate and I am a Mentor for the Virtues Project which is a character building program.
In my work over the years I have had regular and extensive training in safeguarding/child protection, risk assessment and Health and Safety, PACE training (a framework to work in a person-centered way with young people) and STEPS training (how to work with emotional and behavioural dysregulation).
I am very much aware of the EYFS framework.
I have done several Pediatric First Aid courses but currently it needs renewing.
My Availability
I am on 1 months notice in my current job.
I am looking for a live-in position and I am willing to work hard during the week although I am looking for spaces on some days/evenings to practice and maybe teach yoga online.
I would be happy to negotiate hours at weekends and holidays, I am pretty flexible.
