My Experience
I have had a 30 year career working as a Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS and a Stroke Support Coordinator for a charity. Initially I worked with preschool and school age children and have two grown up children of my own. This year I am on a sabbatical from the charity and have spent the last six months working as a live-in Granny Au Pair, firstly supporting an 89 year old lady near London to remain independent on her own home, and secondly with a family near Brussels where I was a nanny to three children aged 8,5 and 4. My duties varied but included helping to get them up and ready for school, keeping the kitchen and their areas tidy, preparing healthy snacks and sometimes cooking for the family, taking to after school activities , helping with homework , looking after them until bedtime, bathing and putting them to bed, and sometimes being in sole charge overnight if the parents were away. I recognise the importance of respecting other people’s homes, routines and needs and I fitted in well to two very different environments.
I am very active so can play tennis, ride bikes, kick a football and also am creative (I love sewing and art) so enjoy settling down with craft activities, reading and baking with children. A lot of my friends are younger than me so still have school age children and I have a lot of experience looking after them.
I have an enhanced DBS from work as I work with vulnerable adults. I have an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate ( not paediatric specific).

BA Hons Linguistics and Phonetics , University of Leeds 1989
Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Communication Studies, City University 1993
Member of Health Care Professionals Council (Registered Speech and Language Therapist)
My Availability
Until mid October , occasional evenings, weekends or overnight, or you can contact me for a last minute stand in if your regular wrap around childcare is unavailable

- Babysitting from £10.00 per hour
Minimum 2 hours babysitting. Rates dependent on needs and ages of children and length of shift.
