About Me
Experienced GCSE English and maths tutor and SEN specialist.
I'm a qualified secondary school teacher with QTS (University of Sussex, 2006) and have been teaching for around 15 years. I have a wealth of experience to offer students, especially those who are fearful or struggling with maths or English. I'm currently working in the inclusive learning department of an FE college preparing students to resit their GCSE maths and English exams.
I live in East Sussex and deliver all my sessions online using tablet and electronic pen. To make the most of their tuition it is recommended that students also use a tablet and electronic pencil to maximise interaction. My sessions are personalised for each learner and are designed to fill gaps before working intensively on the main topics required for GCSE. I will also focus on personal skills and behaviours they require for passing GCSE.
I'm a confident and experienced teacher who is clear, articulate and an active listener. I have a friendly and professional approach at all times and explain topics in way that is clear and easily understood. I regularly keep my teaching skills up to date with extensive CPD training and short courses, including Safeguarding in Education (July 2024). I have a full DBS.
My Experience
I have extensive experience working with students who have barriers to learning, including memory and processing difficulties, social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, dyslexia, school-refuser, care-experienced, autism, ADHD and other SEN. I use a wide variety of resources which I personalise to suit every individual's needs.
The main aim for me as a teacher is to see my students make progress, build confidence and succeed at passing their GCSE exams. I have received excellent feedback from students this year saying that they have expanded their previous knowledge and feel more certain about passing this time around.
