About Me
Little Acorns is a home from home childminding setting. I offer a nurturing, play based environment with a combination of child and adult led activities. Following the EYFS Curriculum, I help children to learn and grow by gently scaffolding their play, following their key interests and by providing hands-on, learning opportunities both in the setting and as part of daily trips and outings.
I believe that forming strong relationships with children and families is key to a child’s success. By keeping low ratios and working with each individual child, I aim for children to grow, progress and develop to their full potential.
I understand the importance of outdoor learning. Our daily outings include Beale Park, woodland walks and Harcourt Arboretum. Visiting local toddler groups and playgroups including a multigenerational group is also built into our week.
I believe that communication is key to a child’s success. Parents and carers are kept up to date with their child’s progress and what they have been doing throughout the day.
Every child is unique and by providing a safe and happy setting I aim to meet the needs of all children in my care.
My Experience
I am a fully qualified, EYFS teacher with over 15 years’ experience working with children.
I have worked in a variety of roles including Reception teacher, EYFS Lead, Acting Headteacher, Early Years Practitioner and Team Leader. I have also taken on additional responsibilities within a school setting including Phonics Lead and Safeguarding Lead. Over the years I have worked with a huge range of children including those with additional needs and English as a second language. I have also taught and lived in Australia for 7 years and worked with children in some of the poorest, slum areas of Cambodia.
I am also a parent myself and have 2 children under 5.
I have up-to-date pediatric first aid, Safeguarding training and DBS certificate as part of my Ofsted registration.
My Qualifications
My qualifications include:
• Graduate Entry Bachelor of Early Childhood Learning (BEd) – Qualified teacher status
• BA (hons) Early Childhood Studies
