My Experience

I am experienced and trained with premature babies,newborns through to toddlers:nursery school age children,primary children and secondary school teenagers. All ages I enjoy;each has its own challenges-each of them a range of joy!
I am returning to the the UK in June. I was asked to set up and manage three nursery schools in the Western Cape based on Montessori principles. My home base in London is Hampstead but now that all my children are at University I am able to travel ,and either live out or in anywhere in the Uk- or abroad.
For me the family that I join is the most important factor. A family of one child,or many,where my range of experience will be valued.
I adore children and I enjoy all aspects of their care. I have experienced roles from sole charge nanny to professional parents working long hours to the sole care of a three week old girl on a 24 hour basis. My childcare experience are comprehensive and diverse- from baking in schools, to running a play-group for the PPA ,to working in hospital wards.
I find the pace of young babies and children development exciting and exacting-no two days are the same. Babies and children constantly evolve and the challenges I face as a nanny are to provide- an individually nurturing- but also open, and forward looking environment.
My training has enabled me to consolidate my practical experience- and to increase my range of child development knowledge-and its appropriate application to each unique child in my care.
My range of qualifications : PPA Children at Play, BTEC Hospital Play Specialist ,Children with Disabilities,Maternity Nanny were chosen for their depth of knowledge on specific child-development issues.
My experience through my training is very broad; diverse enviroments from homes through to play-groups-to nurseries,schools and hospitals.
My HPS training required me to gain practical experience in a hospital environment in a creche for a year as a pre-requisite to being accepted on the course.
During the course I under-took further child development training on hospital wards at the Royal Free and Chase Farm and in clinics and wards at Bristol Hospital wards- and in all three hospitals nurseries.
The HPS exceeds the NNEB in its depth of knowledge of child development as it incorporates the ages 0-16 with additional knowledge of Paediatric First Aid,Food Hygiene and Health and Nutrition.
I chose the course for its academic and practical child development elements; and its concentration on the core values essential for a child's emotional development.
Working with children in a stressful and unfamiliar environment has given me compassion,knowledge and skill at dealing with the feelings of a child in new situations. All children face unusual events in their lives, whether simply the arrival of a new baby-or the first day of school-or an appointment at the dentist.
Another invaluable aspect of working in hospitals in the unit you form with parents which is essential for the child's well-being. I am aware of the importance of working together with the parents and grandparents to ensure the best quality of care for the child.
My experience as a mother provides me as a nanny with a range of skills and knowledge;from the depth of bond between mother and child to the practical needs of children I am a good organic cook,baker, excellent house-keeper and safe and reliable driver.I am also an able tutor and a practiced swimming,riding cricket,football coach!
Children learn through play and I am fun,outgoing and energetic with endless creative and imaginitive play ideas. I love singing,music,and reading books-I am happy and involved at classes,whether french,dance or gym. I like to walk and be to be outside-whatever the weather!
In the outside world there is always so much for children to see and interact with whether in the libarary,play-group park, or the playground-I am sociable-but always your child will be my focus, my pleasure and my direction. I appreciate the level of trust placed in me as your child's nanny and I will never let you down.
