Hello,
Here’s a little bit about me. I always find these things a little awkward, introducing yourself via words on a page but here goes…
My name is Emma and I am 49 years old (we won’t talk about that). I am married to my husband Robert and I have 2 gorgeous, independent, young ladies currently living at home. We have very happily lived in Benfleet for around ten years now. I mustn’t forget, he is also important, I have a pesky little chihuahua dog called Peanut, too. I think I am a very positive, smiley, kind and creative human being, who loves to be around young people and hopefully bring a bit of fun and brightness to their day.
I am currently looking for an exciting new career opportunity. I love working with children and young people and have done so for many years now. Particularly, within an educational environment but more recently supporting young people in a local fostering agency.
As you can imagine, no two working days have ever been rarely the same for me. So, working within such environments has allowed me to gain some valuable knowledge, adaptability, resilience and patience. As well as, developing a fantastic sense of humour (which I believe is a great skill to use around young people) and a great insight into young people’s minds. I have gained a variety experience with children of all abilities and behaviour’s during my career, which I truly think has helped me to become the best version of myself.
I feel I have a great understanding of the current curriculum and the expectations of primary schools, which is ideal for extra support with the children’s homework, reading, times table skills.
I have also had to undertake many courses and training during my career, too. For example, safeguarding, first aid, attachment & trauma informed care and neurodiversity training. Of course, currently holding an Enhanced DBS certificate.
I would love to be given the opportunity to thrive and to put to use my wide variety of skills, experience and knowledge by continuing to work with some amazing young people/children within a whole new family centred, more personal, working environment. It would be an absolute privilege.
My Experience
Aside from raising my own two beautiful, very independent daughters, of course, I also cared for my characterful nephew from when he was 6 months old to reception age. He is an energetic, neurodiverse child. As well as gaining a wealth of experience working as a Learning Support Assistant with a variety of primary school aged children with their different needs and capabilities for thirteen years. Finally, a different area of experience and knowledge by working with young people that have sadly experienced attachment difficulties and trauma as my role as a Fostering Support Worker.

My Availability
I would consider myself to be very flexible. I would always try to help/support whenever I can. During my current role as a fostering support worker, I have be asked at short notice to offer support to any of the carers or young people at the fostering agency.
