About Me
I have three grown-up children and two school-aged teenage grandchildren. When my kids were little, my house was like a second home for their friends. There was always a lot of children around, and I was happy to have an extra seat at the table for tea, give lifts, help with homework / projects etc for many years. I aim to foster a welcoming, safe and stable space for children, and to always be a person they can trust and feel comfortable around.
Until recently I worked as a chef for many years at a college, where I developed an enthusiasm for providing healthy, balanced and appetizing meals for young people, ensuring mealtimes were seen as positive and something to look forward to, and that feedback was listened to. I am trained in allergen awareness and am very careful to ensure allergens and special diets are taken seriously; in my previous role I prepared bespoke options for children with allergies and special diets.
I babysat for my grandchildren when they were younger (and still do when needed), picking them up from school and providing fun games, healthy snacks and helping with homework, while also doing some light cleaning, ironing etc.
My Experience
I have worked in several primary schools as a Non Teaching Assistant. I worked as a Catering Assistant at a boarding school, interacting with students when serving the food. I have worked as a domestic housekeeper for several private households and been entrusted as a key-holder for several years. I have also worked as a housekeeping supervisor at an outdoor education centre, often interacting with the visiting pupils. In 2010 I moved overseas for two years to Stockholm and worked as a nanny / housekeeper for a family with two primary school-aged children, picking them up from school, providing after school care and healthy snacks, as well as light housekeeping duties.
My Qualifications
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, Safeguarding and Prevent, Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene, Allergen Intolerance, Diversity and Equality training, Fire Marshal training, and a full clean driving license.
My Availability
I am available Monday to Thursday, mornings, afternoons and after school.
