About Me
Hi there! My name is Hailey, and I am 24 years old. I am actually from Canada, however I am half Welsh so I have moved to Wales to experience the culture here! I graduated from university last year with a double degree in Honours Film Studies and Women and Gender Studies. Due to my education, I am highly educated in human rights, sexualities, and how people grow up based off of their childhood experiences. These skills have aided me in getting to know people in a deeper and more meaningful way, especially with children and pre-teens.
Some of my hobbies include reading (I just bought a Kindle and I absolutely love it!), writing, going for walks in the park, watching movies (kids movies included!), and listening to music.
My Experience
I have been working with kids since I was 13, starting as a general babysitter for 2 young boys after school. After that, I was a Disney Princess at birthday parties, which I absolutely loved doing. I made a strong effort to be inclusive of all children at the parties, especially if there were any young boys there. Eventually in 2022 I got a job as a Stop-Motion Film Instructor at a summer day camp, which reminded me just how special it is to work with children. After that, I was a babysitter for a little girl with Angelman Syndrome, who was an absolutely amazing child. I did the camp again the following summer, and then in January 2024 I began working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant at schools within Newport, where I gained a lot of knowledge of the schooling system in the UK. I also gained a lot of information on working with children with autism, as well as ADHD. I also got to spend time as a general TA, where I helped children learn to read and write, as well as solve math problems.
My Qualifications
I received my babysitting license in Canada when I was 13 years old, which gave me a lot of knowledge on how to keep children out of harm's way, as well as how to keep them entertained and happy. I know how to do basic first aid, however I am looking to get proper first aid training in the coming weeks!
